If you are bidding In the next few days

I believe that if a VIN number is clearly not from a MV and the vehicle is misrepresented as such, it is a fair warning that was given. It was not a quality or condition comment.

    Sitting/ Storage Time

I wonder how long vehicles sit on base with no use. I am only guessing from photos, that the larger rock they are parked on helps keep the tires from rotting in mud or damp ground. Solar chargers were added to keep batteries alive. I know the mileage on military vehicles can not be considered...

    fuel treatment for ethonol gas

:ditto:It does cost more, but you can find gas stations that sell "non-oxigenated" gas. Some even claim "ethanol free" or "100% gasoline". I ain't too bright and thought gas was safe to use in engines. After the third small engine would not run without 1/2 to full choke and I had to buy carb...

    Sitting/ Storage Time

:ditto:I had figured that was not the 09 you were worried about. Diesel will keep quite a while. I still think it is best to start em up at least every couple weeks. I have a couple vehicles including one diesel that are stored over the salty salty Wisconsin winter. I keep the battery...

    Sitting/ Storage Time

By the looks of your photo, even if it runs, you should not drive it on the road. At least the hood needs fixing so you could see...rofl

M923's and M925's, how much are they going for now?

Thanks BKubu. I am not familiar with these trucks and Wreckerman mentioned some issues with the transmission and transfer case on page one. No suprise on the fuel. It is better to have miles per gallon than gallons per mile...

M923's and M925's, how much are they going for now?

What is the fuel consumption on a 923? Does the automatic tramsmission have good reliability, or are the hard shifts reported earlier in this thread typical (and destructive)?

    A million questions to ask

3dAngus, the military has the money to buy replacement vehicles, or they would not be "surplusing" these trucks on GL. He needs a work truck for a business. They are cool. They are a great hobby. I don't believe they can make him money, even if they cost less to aquire. What will his profit...

    A million questions to ask

My point is that you could probably lease a brand new truck that would fit your needs for less than your costs to aquire and maintain an old military truck, if you depend on it being available every day that you need it. Your customers do not want to hear that the job is not finished because...

    A million questions to ask

Sorry, I had to. The point is, these are old trucks, sold at the end of their usefulness to the military. If the purchase price really reflected the "useful" value the price would be much higher, and the availability much lower. The "big" companies would be using them for the major projects...

    HEMTT on GL

Nope. I don't agree. Maybe I do. I am not sure. Oh wait, I remember! Doghead is right. Except that last thing, whatever it was. No, I think he may have been on to something, but now I am not sure what it was. Oh ya, I like posts. I learn from them. I learn things that I would not have...

    Grinding starter?

My guess is a starter issue (see above suggestions) also damaged your ring gear on the flywheel. Remove the starter and have someone turn the crankshaft slowly while you use a good light to view all the teeth. If there is not an area or areas missing teeth, it is just a starter problem.
