See yes, it's stuff like this slide RV build that i'm talking about. why use a custom built rail system so you can keep your giant unaredynamic box...why not just use a big rig tail gate hinge from an end dump truck, and use that to support something that folds out from travel position, instead...
Ah, you said "rear slide out" and I started thinking structural support for an RV "Slide out" I see so many people building those...it's kind of funny considering it mechanically.
They build a case with enough structure to support a slide out...instead of just using the frame and bed of the...
Instead of slide outs have you thought about using the super heavy, greasable, dump truck hinges and some lighter form of support for the down position?
I thought cable or ratchet straps for down position support cour easily create a canvas roof support, especially if you ?cantalever? The point...
Yeah, I like the winch idea, I was thinking it might be possible to fabricate an adjustable angle winch mount that functions like a beefy version of the gym free weights bench adjustment...I used to run oilfield winch truck and I'm a big fan of a straight line pull, and keeping your cable...
There's a plate on the trans side of the engine trans connection, maybe this is supposed to be missing so you can adjust something, or maybe it's a shim bolt...the one on the other side has like 4 washers on it, so that makes me wonder if there's a set depth or adjustment needed instead of just...
See, that all ties back to your original misunderstanding, the reason they passed the portion of the EPA they DID pass (yes they were exempt from lots of it). was because of the EPA setting a fuel air mix that favors a lean condition...if you crank that top kick screw a little it runs cooler and...
Does anyone know what grade of steel the super heavy airlift bars (4x) on the m1078 are? I suspect they could be sold for more than general steel scrap price, and I also suspect I'll lose at least 600 lbs gvw. I just can't bring myself to sell them for $0.08/lb.
Yeah the new diesel emissions stuff is a pain in the ass. It fails all the time for no real reason, they also make the engines run so hot they take a huge hit to longevity.
I am kind of curious if a little splash of propane on top of the diesel would clean up the emissions more than most folx...
Mine is a 1994, so I reckon it's an A0
I know my engine is mechanical fuel injected engine with a lifter pump run off the voltage from one of those variable resistor wiper things.
I believe you re the emissions thing, but my engine has a plate on top that specifically says it's EPA emissions compliant...do you think this means it's not the original engine?
Also, if the A2 has a better transmission controller, but the same trans is it an easy upgrade?
I'm sorry I stopped reading at "they didn't have a lot of off road diesels in the 1990s
Okay, go out to your truck and find the "meets California Emissions sandards for on road use" metal plate on the top of your engine. Yes the engine is used in agricultural and marine applications, this is...
Umm...you do know the fuel air mixes on a factory cat is essentially set by the EPA? That not the optimum running conditions for a diesel. That's why it's illegal to do those mods, unless you're using it off road only.
The optimum 3116 thermostat is 195 degrees
It's all interesting to think...
Exceptionally helpful reply. Thank you. You sound like you've dug around in these engines.
Here is the video I saw this stuff on, is this guy just full of crap, or taking unreasonable chances with his engine? or what's your opinion?
From my limited knowledge, I've had mechanics (illegally)...
Not only is it possible, it's possible very cheaply, there's a few internal engine screws that let you play with the mix.
Supposedly the turbo wastegate is really easy to tighten up.
A waste gate is the thing when the turbo hits a certain PSI of air pressure in the intake it just blows the...
The 225 HP 3116 MUI engine that is in the 1994 puts out 520 ft./lbs.
I too have been having difficulty finding the torque numbers, but I suspect the OP asked because they care about their engine longevity but would like "a little more torque" So for the OP and a few others in the same boat: you...
