    What color am I.....

You have enough stuff laying around that you don't have to touch your driver. We can talk over brisket and beer on Friday.

So you are going to run the Airforce Deuce. What do you want for your current driver. I might need a pull in the near future.

    Too Much Fuel?

The FDC is bypassed. That would explain what is going on. I think the engine has a 87 tag on it. I probably won't get to the truck until Friday. I have to paint and finish the wood floor of my house, so I can get it on the market. I am about two months behind schedule due to a few setbacks...

    4 Inch Exhaust?

My dad's shop is next to a chrome shop. They are always throwing away 6" stacks. Once I get there (next week) and get settled, I am going to run a duel 6" straight pipe set up. I will post the before and after data. Right now I think I am overfueling, but I am going to get that straightened...

    Too Much Fuel?

After inspection today someone definitely turned up the fuel. The safety wire is gone and it is really smoking. I am going to swap out the rad and turn down the fuel a tad on Friday. Thanks Ed. Hopefully this will be the last time my truck is in Ed's garage, unless I am bored and decide to...

    Any chemists on board?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ammonia As a fuel Ammonia was used during World War II to power buses in Belgium, and in engine and solar energy applications prior to 1900. Liquid ammonia was used as the fuel of the rocket airplane, the X-15. Although not as powerful as other fuels, it left no...

    Too Much Fuel?

I flushed the fluid twice. It is full of junk. I am going to have it recored soon, but I am driving 1800 miles next week. It is a 400 hour take out engine. It didn't run hot in the old truck, so I know the rad is to blame. It runs at 190 on flat ground. It climbs when I hit the hills...

    Too Much Fuel?

The new engine is in and running. I took it out today and it hits 1100 on the pyro on a slight incline unloaded. I hit a good hill, I don't know the grade but it is around 1,000 to 1,500 feet in elevation in about 3 miles or so. It is a good hill. I was approaching 1200 on the pyro in 5th...

    Alcohol Evaporator, Block Heater etc.

I can always put it in the tank like the Duke boys, and if I getted dipped I can tell the officer that it is not a diesel truck it is an E85 truck. At least I am putting my BS in Chemistry to good use.

    Alcohol Evaporator, Block Heater etc.

This is what I set up for the alcohol evaporator. Before you laugh at the duct tape and the foam insulation, take into consideration I had to swap in a broken engine last weekend and next weekend I am moving across the country. I used some fittings I had in my scrap brass bin and a pasta sause...

    Engine shut down while driving

FT resident PITA, transfer case was checked out okay, brakes gone through and adjusted, axles seals replaced, pumkins checked and refilled, tires replaced, and the electrical system was checked by qualified tech and determined that it is best left alone and a 12v marine battery installed for 12v...

    Killed my alternator

I am detailed to the electronics department at work. We have camera trucks with up to 7 12 volt batteries. Chevys, Fords, and Dodges, all charging all batteries off of the 12 volt single or duel factory alts. The cameras run 12v DC, 24v DC, or 110 AC depending on model. Whenever we run a...

    Engine shut down while driving

The truck is running great. I want to thank Ed (FMJ). This was the second time he pulled my truck to his house to fix it about 50 miles each way. The first time, I was in the chat room saying how my recovery didn't go very well and the trans was broken. He said he would be at my house in...

    Killed my alternator

When you hook up and inverter or something with a high draw, it is important to hook directly to the batteries. Steel is a conductor but lacks the extra valence electron that copper has. I don't think it killed your generator, but it will make the inverter run better.

    700R4 Wiring info

You can run the trans without the lockup depending on gear ratio and stall speed. Early 80s might not even have a lockup feature. My wife can drive my truck and remember to drive in 3rd around town and put in 4th on the highway and flip a switch when cruising. I dont let my friends that are...

    700R4 Wiring info

You can put two switches and lock in overdrive power to one terminal and run second ground to lock in second and third ( I can't remember which ones off the top of my head). My solenoid broke and I put in a new one and wired it direct so that it locks when I flip the switch. The trans can't...
