yet one more question on glow plugs, need some fast help

What is the part/model number of the glow plugs themselves? //on the off chance you have the wrong ones edit - Also, how long are the plugs cycling when you start it up and can you confirm that you hear the gp relay on the firewall clicking? if you haven't already, I'd suggest getting a...

another new M1009 owner with questions.

I see. Thank you. I'll take a look when I get home today. Whatever the difference is, it is enough to allow for 33 inch tires without any rubbing should anyone be curious. I'll follow up with what I find out after work.

another new M1009 owner with questions.

Forgive my ignorance, what should I look for to see if my m1009 is lifted? Any chance you can tell from the pics below? I have 33 X 12.5 tires on it but I didn't think it was lifted.

How do I test my batteries?

Voltage (pressure) is only one part of the equation. If they are unable to put out the current (volume), then the voltage will drop too far to be useful enough to turn the starter. Not sure about your part of the world, but around here we can take batteries to the local Advance or Autozone...

    Replacing Fuel Injectors

Well, I replaced all the injectors and glow plugs. I left the lines open on the injectors while my wife turned the engine over. Once I saw fuel coming out of the lines I tightened them up. Engaging the starter for 10 seconds with 30 second breaks took about two minutes to get fuel coming out of...

Pics from floor replacement on M1009

Looks real good. What do you plan to do for an undercoat? I'm also glad to know that somebody else runs into the 'no gas' situations on a weekend. Misery with guests and all that. Happened to me twice and then I bought a 155 cf bottle (largest they'd let me have). If it gets below 500...

    1985 6.2 injection pump

Hurt feelings and mean sentiments aside, where can I find an injection pump for $100? I've been watching ebay since mid December and I haven't seen one for less than $250. I believe I am my search wrong and I'd certainly appreciate your insight on the matter.

    Insurance ???????

Interesting. I have Progressive and my liability coverage is the same as my Two Door ($87 every six months, might be high but I have never been inclined to shop around). I didn't even have to talk to an agent. I just entered the VIN # into their site and it came back as a military vehicle and...

    Replacing Fuel Injectors

If I remove the fuel stop solenoid power, won't that block fuel flow to the injector pump and keep it from rendering fuel at the injectors?

    Replacing Fuel Injectors

I've searched through this forum and I've gone through the maintenance manual, and I'm just not finding the procedure on replacing the fuel injectors. I suspect this is entirely a defect in my abilities but I still need the procedure so here I am posting this thread. I would appreciate any...

    12V Starter on M1008

I rewired my m1009 in about 30 minutes to be 12 volt. I wouldn't venture it as being too much of a hassle. I don't have the glow plug controller though, I just have a switch in the dash to manually cycle them. My reasons for converting to 12v were not related to inherent issues with the...

kid from MO needing some info

I think JJ was just making a reference to the fact that you're only able to have three vehicles because of your parent's assistance. A lot of times you'll run into older people who not only have no appreciation for such 'help' but they even view it as cause to poke fun at an individual. Almost...

kid from MO needing some info

furthering your sentiment I'd suggest keeping a healthy amount of extra wire (16 and 10 gauge), some wire stripper/cutter pliers, few packages of terminals, a crimp tool for the terminals, electrical tape, zip ties, tool set, pry bar, booster pack and some hands free flash lights in the...

    No lights on my M1008

My m1009 did this to me a week ago. All of the lights cut out while I was driving without any real event triggering it. I pulled out and traced everything under the dash I could and eventually noticed that the lights would come back on occasionally as if they had their own will. In fact they...

    85 M1009 CUCV purchase AAR

Both of mine (the plastic/nylon wheels) were gone and the previous owner just left the glass down. I pulled the two tracks bolted to the glass frame, took some measurements and as luck would have it, had a pair of 1/8th inch thick tapered washer looking things that were the same diameter as...

    My introduction, and a question

Well, the starter that I picked up at the local Autozone was a 12v. I was able to determine that much the day I brought it home. I'll take it back when traffic isn't quite so insane. Went ahead and ordered a new 24v starter Sunday evening and it showed up today. Put it in after work, truck...

Can somone look at this picture of my glow plugs

I wasn't able to make very much sense out of the wiring diagram on the first pass. I believe I understand what is going on now that I have seen the comparison between your 12v conversion pic link and what is setup on mine. Thank you.

Can somone look at this picture of my glow plugs

Ah, that makes a world of sense! Thank you! From some of the other pics I took, it looks like mine has been converted to 12v for the glow plugs: Is it a pain to go back? Should I just leave it be for the time being?

Can somone look at this picture of my glow plugs

and perhaps offer some insight on what a previous owner set out to accomplish? I want everything related to getting this truck starting and stopping in tip top shape. My brandy darn new starter should be here in a few days along with some fuel system details. I am not sure if what I have for...

    My introduction, and a question

I found a starter today at the local parts house. I didn't expect to but they had a lifetime warranty on their reman starters so I picked that up. I decided to hang on to my core though as the starter they handed me is shaped differently than the one I pulled of the truck. I'm going to do some...
