I can be done. I have 4.10s and a 700R4 with OE tires. I do 35 miles daily. Do yourself a favor and study the electrical aspects. Oh, and search the CUCV forum. Lots of stuff here.
My basically rural neighbors think nothing of the M1028. It is just a pickup truck to them. I doubt they would mind something larger . . . if I could afford it multiple vehicles. Our concern was building the dome house we now live in. They had no problems with it. We are a local landmark of...
Congratulations to both of you. When you find the right person, life becomes good. I have been married to Sheila for coming up on 12 years (2nd time, the first one was a mistake I saw coming but did it anway). Even after years, people still think we are newlyweds. It sounds corny, but I do...
Wow. I have OE tires, K&N filter with foam pre-filter, 4.10s in the axles, and a 700R4. Rotella 15-40. With a LIGHTWEIGHT right foot, the best I can average is 18 MPG. Maybe it is the 97K on the odometer . . .
My M1028 has a 700R4. It is something you should consider. As long as you steer clear of the early years and have the transmission gone through thoroughly/properly before you install it. I have 4.10 axle gears, stock tires, and with a LIGHTWEIGHT right foot, I have gotten 17-18 MPG. You might...
RE: Big Ugly won
I you have 6TLs, you can test them with a hydrometer. Available at auto parts stores. The number of the little balls that float tells the state of charge. The easiest way to charge them with what you have is the way beaubeau says. I once did a Google search for '24 volt battery...
You are supposed to have one in Illinois. I have my plate on the right side of the bumper where there are two convenient holes (covers the convoy light though). I have them attached with those bolts with a tiny bulb in them, Lighnting Boltz, I think they are called. I got lazy and never hooked...
RE: Re: RE: Electric Gremlin-- M1009
I had a somewehat similar problem with mine. I was unloading some things at a storage unit one night after dark. I had left the truck running with the lights on. When I was finished, I realized that the engine was still running, but I had no lights...
I have mine insured through State Farm. The real problem I had was getting in registered in Illinois. I got mine from Boyce Equipment. They included the SF97. The Secretary of State (DMV) people here had never seen an SF97. The guy I worked with had to go back and forth with other people and...
I don't use a grill blanket . What I do is cut a piece of cardboard large enough to cover the width of the radiator and about three radiator cores high. I put it right in front of the radiator at the very bottom, actually touching it. It ensures that some coolant doesn't get cooled too much. It...
The problem is with public schools in larger cities and public colleges/universities. People of a far left, basically communist ideology run them and teach in them. They use freedom supplied to them to promote this ideology. Any way to attack or snipe at a non-communist America is their purpose...
It sounds like your temperature gauge was reconnected when you returned to the garage. Were you getting a lot or a little heat in the cab? If you didn't have a lot of heat, that combined with your low temperature readings makes me think your thermostat is stuck open. The engine can't warm up...
