Joe helped me out with my first deuce. I needed it hauled off of Ft. Jackson, so he stepped up. Very reliable and nice guy. He even let me park the deuce in his back yard to prep it for the journey home. He pointed out a power plug on a pole in his backyard too, which allowed me to air up...
Residual pressure in the radiator can hang around for a long time. If you get antifreeze in the oil, but no oil in the antifreeze, I would suspect the oil cooler is bad/leaking. If there is oil in the antifreeze, or if antifreeze is being consumed/rapidly blowing out from overpressure, I would...
For straps, rinse out the mud lengthwise, then dry them in the sun. Keep them in a dry place until needed. I LOVE using the straps when recovering ATVs. The rubber band effect really works on those.
If there is nothing wrong with the truck, it seems like thats a good price. I still wouldn't want it, because I'd have to learn a whole new truck.

Ours is like the one you have in pic 1. Ours was from Ft Jackson, and had the tool boxes and fuel pod brackets. It sounds to me like someone wanted the fuel pod brackets on the trailer you won, so they did a swap. We paid about what you did, so I think you did alright. GL broke the brake...
I would like to add that spin on filters are not practical for those of us with a fleet of trucks. Also, after you've handled the conventional filters several times, it gets easier.
