    M246 Revival

How do the serial numbers work? I see 246 a bunch of zeros and a 4. Is that the 4th truck off the line? I can't get to the TM library for a few weeks but will check for outrigger info. If other TM requests come up let me know. We found more manuals for 5 tons in a wrecking yard and need to...

CUCV early Glow Plug burn out - What is the cause?

I battled with a similar problem in the 1010 then some SuperDave guy replaced an $8.00 relay under the hood that made the glow plugs glow again. Mostly parked indoors, we did have a few cold starts at altitude. Once things are volted and working correctly, cold starts should never be a problem.

First time I'd seen a switch in that spot. Does that look like an after market thingy and what in this world of MV lingo is a ground lift night switch? 👈

So far we're finding the CDN trucks had upgrades from factory and 1 3/8" wheel cylinder was standard. I say 'so far' because we never say never and might find 1 1/4" in a CDN truck one day. It appears, most likely, possibly, many American G749 threads report 1 1/4" wheel cylinders so it could...

The frame number and the first four digits are most certainly 1207 and you're sitting on some history....slide bar hood and all. That bell says communication shack, Kratz, Light A-A anti-aircraft truck, or maybe the dentist. Most pics compliments from DM and the boys at CMV. We can just see...

    It followed me home. Honest...

Your M207 would like to identify as an M211 lol? I think the reason we say the M207 CDN is more rare than the M211 CDN is only because we haven't seen many M207's remaining. The 207 were cab and chassis / dual, so likely more versatile in the after market auction houses of Crown Assets. We...

    It followed me home. Honest...

That's an early one. With the April 30 1954 M207 being 3002 and the start of production in 1952 it's around 107.21 trucks per month. That puts your truck at 13.63 months so close to a January 1953 Delivery Date and not a 1952. Looking at the hood I don't see the slot in the back/side to fit the...

So sweet. and fairly complete. Another one for the CDN G749 database if I ever finish the CDN G749 database. I've seen many more M211's than the CDN version M207 cab and chassis so let's hope you have the more rare 7....than the 11. Can you confirm from either the data plate or that stamp...

    New to me 8x8

I looked at the glass and figured that's still pretty good so I support a complete rebuild. 28,000 kg is a much smaller number than 61,729 pounds but who doesn't like a big truck? Did a quick sweep for parts and although one site claims North America support for Tatra, support and service is...

    M8 Grayhound project?

Is that M8 as in 6x6 fun? This one might be similar. I stole this photo from DG after the Valour Park folks up North dragged some Steel Soldiers to a Nov. 11th event. I can message some contact info if you want to reach out to a fella that recently finished this one. Here's a little article...

    G749 preservation

Dropped a little tube you too video on the u toob with a last kick at the start up before we freeze. It's doing an odd jump when the engine engages so there's that to chat about. Piglet might identify as a Frog and this video will help those who want to know how to identify their Frog.

    G749 preservation

The January 26, 1955 M135 finally gave up some parts after dragging it to the G749 farm around Father's Day, 2013. I tried to remove the radiator the evening before but those pesky 3/4 bolts with the 9/16 nuts needed impact and lube or they were going to break. It gets dark real fast around here...

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

We could have sat on youtube all day and not get injured. Having ambition can be hazardous. One ambitious fella I worked with was using a wire wheel to paint prep our trailer when he let out a scream. If those wires aren't grabbing a finger and pulling it in, they are coming off at high speeds...

    New member M-135 CDN build

Welcome into the extra axle world and the green MV platform for truck building. Please grab pics of that current engine. Sounds like an ambitious start for someone. Your build description sounds awesome. The rules over the last 10 years don't appear to be much different but it's best if the...

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

I was just being polite and not interrupting. There are over 10,000 views in just 5 months so the audience is large......now that you know......no pressure lol.....unless we're testing oil pressure. Following in the book helps my right side thinking brain understand how to set up the testing...

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

Thanks again for swapping between greasy gloves and snapping photos of the hydromatic surgery. It's a huge contribution to the preservation of the Early Deuce. I try to follow along with the ORD 9 SNL G-749 Service Parts Manual because it has these great pictures. I don't want to distract from...

    G749 preservation

How long should it take for 1 gallon / 4 liters of anti-freeze to flow out the bottom radiator tank on the G749....under ideal conditions? Draft up that pool and toss your answers below. We're going to find out. Old Piglet, delivered on June 27, 1952 as number 685, currently takes over 4...

    G749 preservation

Now we need to see one of these tabs. They're beadlocks. Got the story from one young, experienced mechanic....., at least he was young back in the 70's when he'd throw these away because most of them were broken. He's experienced now and we're so fortunate he knew these tabs helped keep the...

    G749 preservation

Well look at that. There is nothing wrong with your eyes. The 9-8024 has a photo of them too. In-service, on the book,.....hooks on the wheel thingy. Nothing on or around page 471 so we have an NDT mystery. I didn't look on the frame side of the wheel to see if they're inside as well. This...
