    700R4

Funny you say that. I've been looking for a low-or-no rust M1009 for my next project. When I install the P400 / 765R4 / NP241 into my M1028, I will have an extra complete, original, clean, 15,000-mile OEM drivetrain with no home. There have been several guys wanting it, but they are wanting...

    700R4

Just wanted to let everyone know that I just listed a brand-new Bowtie Level 2 k-case 700R4 transmission in the classifieds. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/brand-new-bowtie-level-2-700r4.209342/post-2472769

    M1008 Build

Hi. I've been silently following your thread. In my humble opinion you are making very good decisions. Regarding an engine - I'm not sure of your financial situation, but have you considered simply purchasing a 6.5 crate motor and adding all the CUCV accessories to it? Not a turbo, mind you...

    Worn Flexplate

Ditto what Patracy said about the bracket. If you don't know already, there are two (2) different brackets; one for the original OEM direct-drive starter, and then a different bracket for the newer gear-reduction starters. They are not interchangeable. You will need to know which starter you...

    NP208 Rebuild

Yeah the NP208 takes a Speedi Sleeve #99187 from National. NAPA should have this, or can get it. It comes with a driving cup to install the sleeve onto the yoke shaft. When you go to install the sleeve on the shaft, make sure you don't drive it too far on the yoke that the rubber flange of...

Rebuilding after 15 years of storage

If I were you I would leave the Gimmy as-is and use it. Then find and rebuild a 6.2 or 6.5 engine for the CUCV. Just my 2 cents..............

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

Thanks for posting. I watched every video. Quite an adventure! Sounds like the Cowdog did good. Regarding brakes, an upgrade is on my list as well. I've already installed rear discs and removed the load equalizer. The truck stops on a dime going forward or backward, even when wet. But I...

    Versions of HMMWV Tachometers

I ran a separate wire from the negative buss on the firewall to the negative screw on the tach. Worked like a charm.

Mounting an AC compressor on stock 6.2?

My Vintage Air unit ain't gonna die. Hail it probably won't ever be turned on. o_O

Mounting an AC compressor on stock 6.2?

Yes that is what I did also. In my opinion the Vintage Air kit is much nicer and more efficient than the Nostalgic unit. I haven't completed installation yet, so I (and many others) will be eager to see photos of your installation. Thanks for posting.

Mounting an AC compressor on stock 6.2?

Sounds like you have it figured out. Remember to post photos and processes to assist other SS members.

Mounting an AC compressor on stock 6.2?

The company that produced the A/C brackets for Vintage Air was Component Parts Inc. in Ft. Worth TX. In my dealings with them, I got the impression that they were a small, family owned & operated business with no exit strategy. Herb & Lillian (I forgot their last name) owned the company and I...
