I'm not sure about a civilian part #, but according to the Hummer Knowledge Base the AMG seal kit part number is 5744403. That might help track it down.

I wouldn't trust the adhesive myself since it is intended to stick to flat fiberglass or aluminum siding on RVs. I'm sure it does a decent job for which it was intended, but anytime I use something in a non-standard application I like to over-engineer it.

Between 27 and 28, the manual says 27.something, I can't recall the exact spec.
The TM explains how to adjust the regulators (depends on which alternator/generator you have). The 60 amp regulator is a snap to adjust, in my experience.

My first impression was to kill the engine, but a diesel can keep going if it can pull hard enough on the fuel source and especially if it has an engine driven mechanical pump.

Disconnect, clean and reconnect all electrical lines.
Is your dash well-grounded? Have you a grounding kit? Bad ground causes a lot of troubles in these rigs.

If the replacement idler arm was a gen 1 M998A0 part, it could have easily blown out again. They are NOT robust. Definitely inspect your steering soonest. Easy way to see and diagnose issues is to put the front on jackstands and wag/wiggle the tires hard by hand while looking at the steering...

The steering play is a common fault, and almost certainly related to your drag link losing its grip on your right ball joint. I replaced my steering with H1/A1 components, to include the idler arm (all but the steering box itself), and am pleased with the improvements...
Welcome and congratulations! Looks like a good start. Most likely culprit for no start, if it's been sitting a while, is bad fuel and old fuel filter. Drain and refill tank and put a new filter in and see if that helps

Interesting. It certainly doesn't look like it will part from the top/strip. Probably been together 32 years, I suppose that's why. I'll be sure to take a harder look at it the next time I have it off, which won't be soon since it's covered by snow right now.
