    Homemade canvas/tarp top for M1102

I started with metal/fiberglass HMMWV sideracks. Member 1954coe welded on an extension to the front. Some cutting and trimming and drilling of new holes and it fits pretty well. Already conceptualized a front rack using a M105 front rack but haven't started it yet. After that, use standard...

Scrapping ALERT: Somebody Save This Rare Truck

From out of the blue, the guy in Trent, TX who I met nearly 3 years ago called me reference this truck. He delayed scrapping it for quite awhile to hopefully find someone to save it but now he says the time is coming very soon to sell it or scrap it. I have no connection, get no compensation...

    M1061A1 trailer question

I hope that this isn't another one of those "can I tow it with my pickup truck".....answer is not on the highway. You can move it, you just can't safely stop it at highway speed.

5 ton Bobsled, Recovery assistance near Berkeley Springs WV

I'm here local but it took 4 hours tonight just to open up the driveway to the secondary road....less than 1/8 th mile. Snow is every bit of mid thigh on me and most folks know I ain't that short. Dad said this is the worst individual snow storm he's had here in his area in 46 years. They...

    ir armored lights

The official military way for IR was a simple on and off switch. As gimp said the ground is through the mount. I had some clear lens lights (they're identical except for the IR lens vs clear lens) and wanted to wire them on a 4 position switch but never found one. I wanted it so that it...

DOD changes ID requirement for base access (Enforcing RealID)

Based on whatvi saw today, its not a good day to be a contracted employee on a govt base today. They probably spent more than a few hours getting in the gate if they didn't have the right creds.

    Towing a M1061A1

This question actually comes up probably about once every six months or so. If it was 20 or 30 miles on flat dry loads at low speed....I'd risk it and drive like a nun. Anything other than that, you already have the answer.

What unit is my truck from?

Most likely was the truck supporting the S-4(logistics officer) at the battalion HQ.

    Basic Maintenance Items

The sticky on the CUCV has the normal cross referenced items...belts, filters, etc. If we were to cross reference every part, we'd end up with something like this: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/upload/CUCV/TM9-2320-289-20P.pdf There is also a point that one of our former moderators...

    High Miles

NO, NO!!!!! Don't buy one with over 100 (one hundred miles) on it. That's too many miles. It's actually more important about what unit the vehicle belonged to and what their command maintenance policy and supervision was. I had one unit that...as recently discussed... that was the worst...

    Basic Maintenance Items

A lot of the answers to these many questions are answered in the Technical Manual section of this website. For lubricants you would want to consult the LO (Lubrication Order). Normal grease is GAA (Grease Automotive Artillery). Additional websearch can probably find you some or something...
