M1079 box heater operation using truck power?

As I said, I've left it as an option. I originally drew up a way to do it with a 6x10 segment that just bolts to the ceiling. I would also contain the ceiling lights. It'll be an easy enough mod to slap in if needed.

M1079 box heater operation using truck power?

Agreed. The AAR shelters on the M1079 are one big thermal bridge. I've put a heat gun to the walls and seen it match the outside wall in direct sun. I'm adding a 1.5 inches of Sika board in the walls. It (along with the wooden framework) is merely to sever the thermal bridging but it's an...

Thoughts on removing coil springs on A1R

Yep. But anything can be had for the right price. The ideal solution with no budget would likely be getting in contact with some of the race truck sponsors (Dakar, Red Bull, etc). But race gear is silly expensive (especially when the manufacturer sends the engineering team out to tune the...

M1079 box heater operation using truck power?

Mine is sitting on the garage floor. Even when it was installed and working as intended, it was absolutely not viable due to the noise. You'd have to sleep with noise protection. But no, I had to run the genset to operate it. You likely couldn't carry enough battery to run the thing off any...

Thoughts on removing coil springs on A1R

I've pondered it for years. I think first I will get the brush guards, ladders, roof rack, towbar and carrier, lighting, a/c , and all interior cab work installed. I don't expect it to really feel any different (I certainly won't be adding anywhere near the weight of the armor kits), but I...

    R model FMTV Schematics

There's no proper TM for the A1R in civilian hands, afaik. The most recent TM I have is digital, but cuts off before the A1R. The schematics are wrong for pretty much most all of the truck. It does show a pic of the C7 and the correct dash, but really contains no viable info. It's really for...

North Packery Channel Jetties, Mustang Island, TX Actually, we get tickets for driving on that sand pile (it's not a "dune" it's where the graders push the excess sand as they maintain the city part of the beach) and they likely shouldn't have been playing there. The pile is normally much...

Does Anyone Have the Diagram for Dual battery WITH the Disconnect

Thanks for the writeup and the article. I'll poke around with the truck over the next couple evenings.

Does Anyone Have the Diagram for Dual battery WITH the Disconnect

No, it's there. But it's been incorrect since I did the dual battery delete five years ago. I want to keep it documented on-board. More for the benefit of someone ever having to look at the layout in a repair shop, etc. But in looking at it today, something just seems off when I was testing...

Does Anyone Have the Diagram for Dual battery WITH the Disconnect

Years ago, someone made several of these diagrams for the various 2 and 4 battery set ups. I'm printing some materials to keep in the truck and I want to print the dual battery with the disconnect, but I'm missing that one. I'm not particular of the format or color (doodle on a bar napkin will...

    M1079 Extension

I'd stick with aluminum (like metals, for reasons). As far as connections, I would think bolting might save some work but welding might be preferable. But if you are welding you'll be removing foam from the walls in a number of locations (anywhere near your frame welds). The walls are an...

    Severe wheel hop

I was wondering if it could be related to the run flats. But I've never dealt with them so it's just a wild guess.
