The 543A2 has a transfer pump from one tank to the other and one fuel line to the multifuel. Makes sense.

Locating water/oil intrusion source on a Cummins 5 ton

I think you're right. If it's not on the top of the piston it's probably not the sleeve. Wait till the pan is off, then if no leaks are noted check the cooler. You should be able to see a leak in the cooler with the pan off.( I think) You going to the meeting Fri.?

Locating water/oil intrusion source on a Cummins 5 ton

On page 2-3 fig 2-3 of the Cummins shop manual. (I think it's the same one you have) it shows a cut away head. I t looks like the bottom of the injector sleeve is exposed to the water flow thru the head. If the injector sleeve is not seated tight, when you pull the injector out you will get...

    Questions on M816 Summer project

If the air cylinder is extending and the VS portion of the ip gov. is in place and working the engine should steady at 1200 1250 rpm. Madsam's right, unless u want to disassemble the cranks just take your time and soak, wiggle, tap,and soak somemore. I use KROIL, it works a lot better than PB...

    Military wrecker discussion

As long as I keep in mind what it was built for, how fast it was designed to go, how much it can lift, when it was built, and various other design flaws/ criteria, I LOVE MY TRUCK! It's no hot rod and will probably not keep up with traffic going up I-70 to Vail, It won't carry the family, in...

    Questions on M816 Summer project

Joe , Here is a pic of the valve in question. It's attached to the front of the power divider and is actuated when you engage the crane drive, the lever on the rear deck, in front of the rear winch. When the crane drive is engaged the valve supplies air to the air cylinder which, then, actuates...

816 hyd oil flow control regulator

Hydraulic Regulator Martin, I found reference to the hydraulic regulator in OP-CR53 for the Austin-Western crane.(M108) This is dated 1953 but explaines the use. They called them restrictor valves then but are used to limit the rate of load drop should a hose break or valve stick open. They...

    USA 6X6

Mdd0127, You correctly identified a modern politition. Lie to every one then let someone else take the heat. Wish we could sue this piece of dog poop, but it probably wouldn't help. Another Bug would jump up and take his place. Thanks for the rant Danny, made for interesting reading.
