I tell people all the time that most of these low cost inline pumps don't flow enough to properly supply the engine, but so many want to argue. I'm sorry you're dealing with that, but glad you're seeing why.
To get an inline pump that will do what you need costs around $300.
When I get back I'll be installing power steering. I didn't find a thicker flywheel yet but I think I may be able to use a dual disk clutch instead.
For what it's worth, the transmission is plenty strong as well, but I do believe that the transfer case is stronger.
Yeah the one behind my Cummins is holding up fine. It'll hold up to more torque than the transmission will. I have zero concern about breaking my transfer case, and no plans to upgrade it.
Wish I could help you. I've driven hundreds of miles to make repairs for lots of people. Unfortunately I'm on the other side of the globe for the foreseeable future.
Yeah you have to drive it. Get it out and drive it hard. Think 17 year old that just got his license hard.
This happens every time I've pulled a hydraulic head. It clears up pretty fast though. Sometimes it can take around 30 miles to clear up but it always does.
It could also be binding...
I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but there's just no easy way around it. Your 90° fitting may help, but it also may just interfere with your cluster, cluster wiring, and tachometer and speedo cables.
Man, I have some bad news for you... my hands aren't that big and even with the entire dashboard out I still had hell with it. And even the brand new ducting is so small that it's nearly impossible to get on the boss. It's just a very frustrating fight. Heating the duct helps, and so does some...
I'd agree in general, but if you look that transmission up on Eaton's spreadsheet you'll see that the gears have much better splits than the Spicer 3053A does and it has an available .66 5th gear, which is slightly better for cruising than the old Waterloo overdrive kits that aren't available...
This is how my Cummins swap turned into very nearly a complete truck overhaul, strip, and paint, new wiring harness, everything. I actually named the truck Snowball.😄
The spring being shorter and stronger is not a problem as long as they are all matched. These are just shoe return springs. They would be harder to install though, on an already difficult spring to install.
I'd almost be willing to bet these are Newstar brand springs. Not that they're poor...
If you're looking to spend $40k on a deuce, buy one from a private seller for $4k and do the work yourself. You can completely overhaul the truck with new components, paint, power steering, Cummins swap, 12 volt auxiliary system, etc. for less than that.
