The GM alternator is one of the easiest Alt's to rebuild . Rebuild kits are available and relatively inexpensive , just follow the info on this site and the TM's and you should be good to go . Don't forget about the isolated ground . good luck

Sounds like you need a alternator rebuild , probably a bad bearing . Correct me if I am wrong , but you need 2 alt's for 24 volt start circuit .

Put some heat on the HINGE and PIN ( USE A SMALL WELDING TIP ) and the pin should come out , then I drilled out the hinge oversize and used a 5/16" bolt and lock nut . Little 383 green and good as new .

That is pretty neat , nice rigging job and it looks like it worked well !

!3,000 miles , that is a keeper for sure . A nice coat of "383" green would look good on your ride .
