Replacement aluminum heater core low heat output idea

Well that will do it. Low coolant and a hole in the cooling system will prevent the heater from working at optimum efficiency. That is a pressurized cooling system and must be full and pressurized to operate as designed. Every GM I ever owned had little or no heat when the coolant was low. Good...

    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

Can anyone identify the trailer chassis in the picture? Any GVW and do they have air brakes? I was sent this picture and told they could be bought. Any help. I need a trailer chassis for my rock crusher. Any nomenclature on the tan one in the foreground would be helpful. I cannot use an air...

Replacement aluminum heater core low heat output idea

I drove a CUCV for over 20 years as a daily driver. Fact is several CUCV's over the years. Many I had were bare bones. I even removed the jute padding from inside on the firewall and had a bare painted floor or Line X. I had aluminum heater cores in a few and brass / copper ones in a few others...

    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

A few pictures of some M1010 doors that a member here wanted to see. The right door opens but the left door is rusted shut. I can be opened but I didn't want force it. I didn't notice the poor picture, but it gives you an idea. Take Care.

    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

It's not every day you get to drive the Honda 4514 tractor with the 383 CARC green paintjob. I taped up all the decals and painted over the red. The Honda dealer was mind blown when he seen it. That was 20 years ago, and I still use the tractor to blow snow and haul the wood splitter into the...

    4WD Light

Go under the truck unplug the 4WD switch. Jump the 2 wires with the key on. The light in the dash should light. If not, it could be bad bulb, bad, dirty connection at the printed circuit board, bad dirty socket, pinched wire. But the switch is 7/8" and they do wear out. The same switch was used...

Rebuilding after 15 years of storage

I was told to never use U-bolts over again. I have but only in a pinch. They are about $10. each. It only cost a few dollars more to do the job right. And experience has told me you spend twice as much on the second repair after the savings repair. Looks Good. Keep up the good work. Happy New Year.

    Where Do These Wires Go??

I mounted a 3rd brake light, license lamp, and a roof rack on my M1009. All the lamps I added were LED. Happy New Year. I have since sold this M1009. I wanted others to enjoy my toy.

Rebuilding after 15 years of storage

Hey if you want to do the job right and 100% I would replace the springs completely. The feel and levelness of the ride and height is like new. Face it them stock springs are sprung. They need new springs to give the factory ride height and smoothness. Good Luck. Check out these part numbers...

    M1102 HMMWV trailer chassis

On this HMMWV trailer chassis is it possible to run the 16" GM CUCV pickup wheels. I am going to use the trailer in an applacation that does not require these oversized tires and wheels. I want to get the chassis as low as possible and use the CUCV 16" wheels with 195/75R16 tires.

    M1009 Wipers

I was thinking with the wiper motor disconnected you could manually operate the wipers and eliminate the linkage. I doubt the linkage is that bad and binding. But when you do install the wiper motor disconnect it from the ball stud and grease that ball stud on the wiper motor arm. Taking the...

    M1009 Wipers

I am thinking electrical. Get a voltmeter and check and see if you are getting 12 volts to the motor. Also make sure the grounds are clean and tight. Add a temporary ground and see if that makes any improvements. Report back. Happy New Year.

Flexplate Replacement Parts (+ tangential component replacements)

A rebuilt transmission does wonders also. I had one that was indecisive and shifted erratically. I dropped it off at the transmission shop of a friends and he called and said it was pump pressure, burnt clutches or some other failure inside. I was doubtful because the vehicle had 19 K miles on...

    M1009 Transmission Questions

The line means nothing. Put the pan back on seal it up and give things a whirl. I would opt to get the transmission overhauled if I had it out and found the issues you found. But that is me. Light black dirt and sediment is normal in an automatic. Finding metal pieces stuck to the magnet is not...

Why are my starter bolts coming loose??

Very nice. I like to make things myself.

Flexplate Replacement Parts (+ tangential component replacements)

As an extra measure disconnect the hose from the vacuum pump and start the engine. It should suck your fingertip fast to the connection at the pump while idling. Or at least make a chirping noise that indicates it is creating a vacuum. Good Luck. Report back and Merry Christmas to all and to all...

    CUCV Flexplate Replacement: Step-by-Step Guide

I have a 48" 1/2" female and 3/8" male extension. I have removed and replaced several hundred transmissions. Most of my experience is removal and salvage. Just because I have a good friend with a salvage yard and help out whenever I can. Not so much this past year but every weekend in the by...

Flexplate Replacement Parts (+ tangential component replacements)

Before you do any of this make sure the vacuum hose is still hooked up to the vacuum pump on the rear of the engine. Make sure the hose is not cracked and broken open or sucked shut. Also check the white plastic hose adapters that take the hose from 3/8" to 1/4" I have seen a fair share of them...
