    M35a2 Deuce NO START

You don't mention it, but did you replace all the fuel filters when you changed out the fuel ? Also when you had the injectors out, did you crank over the engine to see if there was any compression ? It should have spurted out air at least. I would also have squirted in some engine oil in each...

    LDT-465 back to multifuel

Very true ! But the correct answer is what you need to tell the instructor to graduate ! Actually that blend of diesel and gas and oil will run quite well in the Multi-Fuel. Especially since the fuel tank is agitated by the constant return of fuel from the injection pump. It blends it really well.

What is going on with my air system?

On the transit buses they had up to 12 air tanks, and if the door tanks (which where the last to fill) leaked the whole system would slowly leak down groaning and squeaking all day long ! After the buses came in at night the "Yard" would make this racket for hours.

What is going on with my air system?

That sound is normal. It's just the tanks equalizing. Heard that sound a thousand times in my career.

    LDT-465 back to multifuel

That's a pretty good ratio, though I would use a little more gasoline. The gas will help to "cut" or thin out the waste oil. That's pretty close to what the military taught me to run in combat situations, though we would use clean engine or transmission oil. I still remember the instructor...

    LDT-465 back to multifuel

About rebuilding injection pumps. Have you read my tutorial ? I go through most steps in completely rebuilding a Multi-Fuel injection pump. About additives, I always add "Opti-Lube XPD " to every tank of diesel fuel in very vehicle of mine which runs diesel. That includes my 2019 Silveradeo...

    LDT-465 back to multifuel

I totally agree, never use "old motor oil" . Your just borrowing problems for yourself. Now if I had that $5,000.00 centrifuge I would go ahead and use any motor oil I could get my hands on. Since I don't have a centrifuge and don't plan on ever having one, I'll just stick to good old clean...

    3" 8-Point Socket Suggestions

OTC tools is right up there with Snap-On for quality. In fact OTC makes many OEM tools. Most of the best gear pullers and pushers on the market are OTC tools.

    Drag link adjustment

There is a torque spec in the TM for this. The spring will be almost totally compressed but I'm not sure of the specs. I did a write up on this years ago but I cannot remember now.

    M35A2 power steering options?

I should post some pictures of my modified steering gears. I shortened the shaft and welded on a splined coupling. I also modified the steering case to except roller bearings instead of bushings. Now if I can just find the things !

    Power Steering Possibility?

There's no way your gonna break that 3/4" shaft . Your stock steering shaft is standard 1" schedule 40 pipe. That hardened 3/4" shaft is far stronger than that. The military was using the "Woodward" system on 5 ton trucks so I'm pretty confident it will work on the Deuce.

Is it true of all the slews of bugs that the deuce has?

Having actually driven Deuces in the military and having worked as a mechanic in the heavy truck industry for 40 plus years I can honestly say they have just the same amount of problems as any other vehicle on the road. If you don't take care of your truck you will have failures. All vehicles...

Short Air Pack- 3 Leak Questions

M35a2 Turbo Temperature to shut off?

When I was still in the Marines we would allow the engines to run for almost half an hour before going out on a convoy. During that time we would do our pre-trip inspection . Checking over the truck for any leaks and tire pressure and such. Of course we checked the oil level before starting the...

Short Air Pack- 3 Leak Questions

That seal is replaceable. You need to use a small pick with a hook on the end to peel it out. There are many companies that sell this "square" type O-ring. Go to your local NAPA store with it and they should be able to match it up. Better yet, if you have an actual O-ring seal company near you...

    Bobbed axle placement

It's really all up to you. What look are you going for ? Tonka truck on steroids or long frame utility vehicle. I personally like the look of a Tonka truck on steroids. Though a long frame utility vehicle is more usefull .
