I decided on a hewitt.
Started to take things apart thinking I would remove the turbo but the more I look at it the more I think I will break all the bolts attaching it to the manifold. That would be my luck so I would like to do it on the engine while running. Anyone have any...
Continuity in the wiring is perfect, no resistance. I took the oil pressure gauge out, cleaned the metal contacts, no change. I checked to make sure the temp sending unit was changing its resistance as it warmed up, and it was. So while it was running I tapped on the temp gauge and it went to...
Here's what I found
Oil pressure gauge: when I ground the gauge AT the gauge, it goes to full pressure. When I ground the wire at the sensor, it moves off zero maybe 1/8 inch. Guessing the wire has some resistance in it somewhere. I'll run a jumper this weekend to verify.
Temp gauge: when...
If I ground the wire at the sending unit the water temp gauge goes from zero to full hot. Thats the weird part because it doesn't move at all when its connected and warmed up. When I ground the wire at the sending unit for the oil pressure sensor, the oil pressure gauge only moves a little. And...
I've started trouble shooting the oil and temp gauges. The oil pressure comes up a little after starting and running but the temp gauge doesnt move at all, even letting the truck run for 45 minutes and physically feeling the manifold get hot. If I ground the wire at the sending unit the temp...
In a parking brake application, could you drill holes on the rotor and use a large pin, where you pulled up on the lever and it sent the pin through the caliper to lock the axle?
I like the idea. You would spend a lot more than that for 2 air packs and a dual master. I found a dual master that almost bolts up where the single goes but couldnt determine all the specs as the dorman guy could not provide.
I am looking to install a pyrometer, maybe 2, in my duece. You guys have any recommendations? I'm skeptical of the units for sale at amazoniano. Thanks in advance!
I managed to get a decent weld on the pin although the leg is a little crooked.
Big shout out to gimpyrobb for the parts! Wheel cylinder with pins and a few other items allowed me to get the brakes redone and hub back on. Thank you again sir!
Also thank you to everyone with your tips and...
Went to bleed the brakes and noticed a puddle under the driver side mid axle. Pulled the drum off and found this. The weld at the top of the brake shoe failed, not sure if it was the pin possibly installed crooked or if the pin failed first and broke the weld? Hard telling. So I got out the...
Well as it turns out the air pack wasn't the problem. When I saw brake fluid at the back of the air pack I thought it was leaking; it was actually the line I ran from the master cylinder to the in cab reservoir. The reservoir connection to the hose is a little smaller than the hose and had a...
Got the nos air pack installed last night. The allen screw at the rear rounded out when I tried to remove it to add some oil to the can so I took off the large air line and squirted some oil in that way. Down the road I may take it off and drill it out for a new bolt.
