    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

I want to make a repair on this CUCV power steering bracket. It is in really bad shape but like most I have seen it has been run a long time in this condition. This is the lower adjustment slot. The adjustment nut press's the bracket onto the hex head of the stud. I use a flat washer behind...

I set the glass out on my door stand and prepared the channel with the sealer adhesive. I placed the sash on the edge of the glass and aligned the ends. using bar clamps I locked then into position. I was able to tap and get the sash perfectly on the glass. I used finger clamps and squeezed...

From left to right it was the Ugly, the Bad, the Good. All were top notch completely stock running gear and electrical systems. I drove them a combined 175k miles. As far as I know they are all still running. The ugly was a bit ugly body wise but 100% other wise. I abused the ugly very hard off...

Was looking for a shop in or near Milwaukee to work on M1008; then did it all myself!

You'll never hear that squeak in that rattle trap 6.2. All is well. While you have the differentials open I have to ask if you serviced the wheel seals and wheel bearings?

    M1009 Blower Motor Housing

I can't post pictures in the PM so here you go. been in storage for 20 years so it will clean up like new and fulfill your needs. A little cleaning and some paint and it is just like Day 1. OEM GM used part. There is no rust thru and really only dirty. I was on the second floor of the barn and...

    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

I used the body hammer and a piece of 1/4" plywood to get the channel opening more uniform and even. With the channel all clean and I don't have any unexpired adhesive I went and opened the rear glass I have. It is a 1990 K5 Blazer Dot Matrix tinted glass. It is not a perfect rear window but...

    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

I kept digging the rubber tape and adhesive from the track until it was all out. You can see the adhesive had not adhered to the metal it had cured in the rust and dirt. No adhesion at all. Looking down over the length of the sash the channel was bent and uneven. The sash side guides were...

I can not believe how hot a humid it is. Is it me or is the grass growing several inches a week. I mowed 3 times in the past week. It rained several days and I still don't have mud in the fields. Hot and humid. I am working on an M1009 with an adhesive tint on the rear glass. The owner sent...

80/90 gear oil always worked for me. No need to break the bank. It lasted this long on standard 80/90 gear oil. Looks great inside and out. Keep going.

It will but it requires a lot of fabrication work. And it will not be as strong as it was on the M1008. There is no way to attach all the braces and cross braces for the pintle hook. The Class 3 receiver on the rear of the M1009 is stronger then the stock Pintle could ever have been.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Just get a new one. I never had any issues with the aluminum ones. If you secure them tight in the heater box and make sure you have the area clean you are golden. Getting a heater core rebuilt is not very cost effective. My personal experience has been that the aluminum ones seem to throw more...

    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

With the rain, heat and humidity I spent a few hours designing and building a rack for my CUCV bumpers. This is the 2nd floor of my barn. I also used some 5 ton folding troop seat brackets to make a 16 ft shelf above on the main horizonal beam so I could get the vinyl siding off the floor. That...

I was never impressed with anything I bought from LMC. But in some cases you must get by with what you can get. I never changed any seat belts. If they worked and were intact I just rolled with them. I use my seatbelts all the time and have since 1984. In 1984 I bought a new Chevette Diesel and...

That is almost identical to the one I paid Snap-On $300. for 30 years ago. I added a few M6 bolts to mine because I work on a lot of Honda and Kubota stuff. Looks Good.
