In regards to military versions, as mentioned, there are VIC-1 and VIC-3 on the market. I have (2) VIC-1 sets for my trucks and paid about $400.00 for a complete set with 2 headsets, 2 com. boxes and the intercom box. I've never owned a VIC-3 but I heard they are noise-reducing. I saw a set...
I'm good with a drive in and meet. There are several weekly meets and greets in my area. Winters car show and Vacaville has a couple weekly car shows and coffee meets and greets.
My understanding is the drying time is pretty quick but the curing time can be 30+ days. I think you'll be fine putting it outside. It'll probably cure quicker in the sun.

I did make it to Camp Delta but did not bring the wrecker...she's not done yet...
