M109 Shop Van Truck photo needed

That area is the strike plate for the top door latches. Mine may look a bit different, as I've added some electrical (and removed the blackout switch, which is triggered when the door is being opened in the GI configuration). stuff.

    M35a2

Mark your calendar now for the Virginia MV Rally, to be held on Labor Day Weekend next year. The SC group has tentatively planned to arrive on Wednesday before and depart on Labor Day. It is held at the Graves Mountain Lodge in Syria, VA, about 30 miles north of Charlottesville on US 29...

M36A2 Deuce, any hints before I purchase it?

Guy, that was probably half the HAWK batteries we had during that time. Mine was built with the deep water fording kit (but only parts of it remained unfortunately), also has the paperclips on the front bumper.

M36A2 Deuce, any hints before I purchase it?

It's also easier to find a cargo cover for the back of an M35! The only M36 cargo covers I've ever seen were the three piece ones (front, top and back), and the 'troop seats' do not fold down either. BTW, $8K for an M36 is probably cheap, as I would want $10K+ for mine.

M36A2 Deuce, any hints before I purchase it?

Jasonjc is correct, that is an M35, not an M36. The M36 bed is five feet longer than an M35, which is 12 feet long to begin with. IE, the M36 bed is 17 feet long!!!!

Sinking an M561 Gama Goat at Camp Pendleton, CA

It was a bit 'rougher' in the winter to get wet. I think I remember the procedure was to install the drain plugs, move the vehicle down to the water with the front wheels submerged up to the axles, turn on the sump pumps set on 'high', then ease into the water slowly and be very mindful of...

US Thermal MFX 2705 Field Water Heater

You need to find the TM for the shower tent, as it would have the directions for setting up the heater. Try this > http://us-thermal.com/productinfo.html They have an owner's manual available as a .PDF. HTH.

Sinking an M561 Gama Goat at Camp Pendleton, CA

The G-G's were made in a plant near Charlotte, NC, and the acceptance test was to drive them into Lake Norman, go out about 100 yards then return. Every one had 500 feet of rope attached to the vehicle and anchored ashore. I've been told the failure rate was close to 25 percent on the first...

    Clutch

Four finger type are prone to breaking one of the fingers since they are cast parts. Three finger type are stamped and thus supposedly more durable. If you are in there, might as well replace all three parts as noted above, along with the pilot bushing on the flywheel - one less thing to worry...

I had no idea this board was a thing!

Deuce axle seals are seated easily using a Schedule 40 4" "Y" and a 2 x 6 about 10 inches long to cover the top for the hammer blows..

Sinking an M561 Gama Goat at Camp Pendleton, CA

With the G-G's, a ripple is enough to sink it. I've seen modifications to the front on both sides to raise the freeboard about eight inches using 2 x 10's cut to fit. Harder to get in and out with a top on, but MUCH safer in the water.

Graves Mountain Rally (Virginia), Labor Day Weekend 2021

First two are going out on a trail ride with the two folks in the back of the Gamma Goat being non-rally folks that were offered a ride. Next three are part of the 'truck games' and the last three are at the Pavilion for the Saturday night BBQ feast.

Graves Mountain Rally (Virginia), Labor Day Weekend 2021

I think a good time was had by all. We had a safe trip home, and JP got to show off his mechanics skills on the side of the road (just south of Rock Hill, SC). No pictures of the roadside incident. Looking forward to seeing everyone next year!

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Standard deuce uprights are about 47 inches long. Most of the newer ones are fiberglass so be careful cutting them down. Cover should go down just slightly below the bottom of the square rail on the sides. Measure how much yours are too long and cut them down - or find another set of covers...

    Painting cargo covers

Most of the time, stencils on canvas are ink, not paint. I have used the white 'cool seal' elastometric paint on a deuce cab cover with success. If it already has holes in it simply lay a piece of cloth over the hole and paint, let it dry and put another coat of paint on, then repeat once...

Everything new, still wouldn't start on it's own - SOLVED!

Bottom of the HH has a button and a spring clip on it, a couple of parts that are very easy to damage or get lost.

Everything new, still wouldn't start on it's own - SOLVED!

When we did the group buy several years ago I think the price was under $350 each, but the 'group' bought somewhere between 20 and 30. $512 would be about right for the markup on an item that has to be paid for in advance and sits on the shelf several years before being sold, even more...

No, in a sealed bag with dessicant - at least the ones I got did.

    Hello from VA!

Contact Cabell about the rally and then show up! I know most of the regulars who are planning on being there. They come from New Jersey down to the Carolinas and as far west as Memphis! Some only are able to spend a day, but all are welcome! Hope to see you there!
