I'm glad Jeepsinker gave you the standard US English version of that phraseology. In true Southern, it would have come out "We's jes' pickin!" which is not well understood by folk from above the Mason-Dixon Line, much less from other parts of the world.
A power steering unit from a vehicle with a gross weight of 8000 pounds being used in a vehicle with an empty weight of 13,500, and a fully loaded weight of almost 24,000 pounds. What could possibly go wrong? The tire and wheel also weigh three times what the poor Silverado had to get to turn...
I've actually seen an Air Force MKT that had stencils on all of the cabinets listing what went where. Pressure wash with soapy water is probably the simplest way of cleaning. A Steam Jenny (also called a 'hottie' up north as I've been told) will also do wonders on getting everything spotless.
Only food in there, and none of it's cooked. Plus I'm in the middle of the rally, and a lot of people would be ticked off if something happened to their food. The lights stay on in the Mess Tent and at least one in the MKT, so any perps would risk being seen (think tar-and-feather time).
My father had a story about the ETO soldiers who only got as far as Ft. Dix. He took over a company at Dix in late 1946 and found he had over 300 Garands in the arms room, when he had only signed for 168. The extras were from ETO soldiers who got out of the army after VJ Day. And, no, he...
I just close the lock in the tang so the door won't close completely, except when I'm outside. Door usually stays open the whole time I'm at the Rally.
Actually, it's mainly an upgrade of the German WWII kitchen trailer. Our MKT was an odd duck, built to feed 250-300 troops, when most companies are 125-150 troops and battalions are 500-600. It's true that they used two MKT's together for a battalion, but then they developed the CK...
I usually have a long fuel hose for the MBU's that can be cut down. It uses 1/4 inch Parker-Hanifin connectors, so if you need another size you'll have to bring it. GI hose is 20 feet, I've found five is plenty!
They sit in the top of the oven on the two rails and hold any combination of GN pans that equal one (one full sized, two half sized, three one-third sized, four one fourth sized, etc). With the lid of the oven off, you can serve directly from the same pans used to warm the food in the first...
Digger, what are you missing? I saw a couple of pieces of unobtanium in the pics. Most of the knives and utensils can be had at your local food service equipment dealer, along with spare parts for the CAMBRO containers for less money and a lot less hassle than trying to purchase mail...
We tried shooting for breakfast at 7am, lunch at 1pm and supper at 7pm, with a 1.5 hour window at each meal. For Saturday night's baked potatoes, we started working on them at 1pm, while feeding folks, first batch went into the oven at 2, rest at 3. Sometimes Murphy slips in on us and we are...
That unit has a larger base than top height, and each shower does NOT have a full height showering area (IE, part of the shower wall (away from the middle) is only about 3 feet high because it intersects with the wall of the tent). If something happens to the 'air frame' you are without a...
