They are called MBU's (Modern Burner Unit). Replaced the M2 and M2A gasoline burners, electronics are run by 24 V DC, fuel is JP-8 (standard battlefield fuel for tanks, trucks, generators, helicopters and jet fighters and bombers). Much easier to work with, far safer to operate, can be...
That's when your story changes a bit to say that you want to restore it and put words to the effect of "In loving memory of xxx x xxx, etc." on the truck and promise to send pictures every time it is displayed, in a parade, and so forth. Even better if the owner is local and you ask them to...
On my FST (the sink/wash trailer) I store the poles on the bottom drying rack. I know 'mitchg' stores his poles in the roof section, held near the centerline with bungee cords (he has a six vent roof and cross pieces that support them there). Having the poles stored on the floor on the sides...
Come to the GA Rally in October! I'm supposed to be receiving a care package from Warthog that has what you are looking for! The three grease shields are some of the hardest things to locate in the civilian world. I had to swap a griddle for one to get mine (my first one).
It's not cast, it's rolled and welded plate aluminum. Some of them were pieced and welded right down the middle (end to end). Look carefully at the fillets on the edges and you will see it's welded. I've had both kinds, but prefer the single plate variety since it's smoother in the middle.
In the corners of the roof canopies there are some triangular pieces with velcro on them, They are to secure the corners down over the walls so it is more air tight. Biggest problem in getting it all secured is having an eight foot ladder or a scaffolding so Soldier "B" can be on the outside...
Just for the sake of the great unwashed masses, the 'hotel pan' in your baked bean recipe is a 15 cm deep 1/1 GN (gastronorm) pan, just so they know what to ask for and get the correct item. I totally agree about the aluminum foil pans - they are nice to look at and cheap, but cannot hold...
Could there be a thermal overload that the fan switch 'activated' by pulling too much current. Once it cooled down, it 'reset'. I once had a truck that died when driven through standing water. Moisture was getting into the distributor cap and shorting it out. After 15 minutes or so the heat...
How long will the MBU's run? At the GA Rally we start with them full and cook 10 meals and some of them don't need a refill. However, we do refill them on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning - just-in-case. The only ones that are thirsty for fuel are the ones under the rinse and sanitize...
Prices are all over the map, depending on contents and the desires of the potential purchasers (I need one right now vs that would be interesting to own). I've seen interesting ones from as little as $1200 to over $5000, and you would still have to get it shipped to your location if none come...
WM, if you come, best to leave your furry companions at home, or chain them to your neck, elst they will be absconded with. It'll be the same cast of characters as Huntsville, and as the old saw goes "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me". If it happens again, we don't want...
Pliobond is used by camera repair folks (we use small bottles- 1 fluid ounce) to put the leatherette back on the older mechanical cameras. Micro Tools should still be selling it, if you cannot find elsewhere.
Won't help for loads this week, but it's something to consider for the future. Go to rallies and meet people face to face and you will develop a network of people that can get stuff off of the various GL sites. We have a member here that is a partner in a firm that picks up every day at OKC...
Fasttrack is a network of independent brokers that have a close relationship with GL. They are just doing what you can do yourself. Depends on whether the time or the money is more important to you! I've used them for some things, and I've done my own pick-ups for others. My first win was at...
If you haven't scrapped that MKT axle off my old trailer, you should be able to get all the parts to rebuild it once you get back to SC. And remember the axle nuts are 3 3/8 eight sided.
