    TH400 Issues, and more

That will do it for sure. Good does not always triumph over evil. Eventually, no one will make anything because of it. Which leads to my last point, trust. Trust can be granted by others outright but is often earned over time. Once you have proven that you can be trusted, you normally have won...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

I found one of the small M1010 placards in my hoard. White with RED snake on stick and OD Green on the other side. Been there a long time. I will take a picture next time out. Camera was dead while I was working. Merry Christmas. Be Safe.

    TH400 Issues, and more

With the oil cap off at idle it will vent crankcase gases. Just pick up the idle a bit and it should be gone. Try that. Merry Christmas. Be Safe.

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

Anybody that was ever in my barn knows the piles of parts and other material I have stored in out of the weather. I am off work till 1/6/2020 and I have been using my time getting things organized, I moved several tons of parts and under the pile I found a TH400 from a CUCV. Not sure what type...

    Glow plug trouble

Well it's a long story. I was thumbing thru the glow plug manual by CUCV Electric and read it many times page for page . The writer has many valid reasons not to alter the glow plug system. Just maintain it in place as it was designed. I strongly agree. Word for word. I have had no less than 100...

    What is this used for?

The door should have a DOT sticker on it. If not look at the VIN on the drivers B pillar. What is the NSN # and what is the GVWR? Does it have a NP205 transfer case? Cast Steel and a straight shifter. I think the door was just changed if it has an NP208 aluminum transfer case. Report back. Happy...

Loosen the bolts on the injection pump flange. If the lines are disconnected at the delivery nozzles you should be able to turn it and line it up. I think the lines are holding you from turning it. Report Back. good Luck. Happy Holidays.

    Glow plug trouble

You have one on the top rear of the drivers side head. And you have one on the rear lower passengers side head. Both can cause issues with glow plugs if they are shorted or poorly connected. I say NO to manual glow plugs. But do as you wish. good Luck and Happy Holidays. Be Safe.

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

Day 1 of my 10 days off work. I am having a grand old time. I have found parts and pieces I had forgotten I had. Lots of nice stuff. I have been buying a lot of this stuff because I was so piled in that I could not see the stuff. I did a few call outs for some free parts. I found an entire steel...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

Happy Holidays to All. I have been doing a lot of clean up and attempting to organize my vast stash of parts. I came across things I forgot I had. Tailgates and a perfect camo CUCV hood that was stashed in the back grain room of my barn for 15 years. I remembered it when I found it. I saved it...

    M1008 Plow Question

Yes they are hard to come by. And when you do find one it is basically junk. And as far as light weight plows. I bought a new Snowdog in 2011. It is very light weight but it still plows snow and does it without killing the 1/2 ton truck it is attached to. I wore out 2 cutting edges on it and...

    Picked up a $500 m1009 Sh*tbox. No key? Hotwire?

Smart Move. I have scrapped a few of the 1988 -1990 cab chassis models that were plow trucks for school districts. But Sharecropper that may have the transfer case you need. Maybe not. It looks much newer. It may have an OD transmission. Happy Holidays. That probably has the computer on the...

    TH400 Issues, and more

Burnt wiring, starter banged on, stud broken. Battery cable lug altered. Bad deal. But not sure what the guy at the paint shop has to do with a transmission not shifting out of 1st gear. That transmission will shift without any vacuum to the modulator. Not nice but it will shift. For reasons...

Losing fuel prime many things done already, still won't run unless bled

The lines on the pump head are very tight. Normal. Use the line wrench and tap them loose. Good Luck.

    Glow plug trouble

I have had this happen on a plow truck. I went crazy trying to find it. I was baffled when all it came out to be was a poor ground on the front battery. I removed the cables cleaned the connections and install a few new grounding star washer and that fixed the issue. It could be a loose wire in...

    Starter Running on

Is it possible that the small trigger wire on the starter or the big positive cable lug is hacked and making contact across both terminals? I have seen the horror of cables and wire ends on many vehicles. Check that out and report back. Where the starter comes from is not important. I have had...

Losing fuel prime many things done already, still won't run unless bled

I would mount all the fuel lines to the injection pump while the injection pump is clamped in a vise. I use a 16mm Snap -On line wrench. I say Snap -On because I have had lesser name brands open up and assist in stripping flared nuts. Do as you must to the top bolt out. It is threaded into an...
