    5-ton Questions

I concure. The A0 is a real meat and potatoes series. No CTIS to deal with that frequently breaks. The CTIS has a BIG cool factor but.... old school works, well. Plus the old Cummins 855 is hard to beat...

So, what's the one thing you'd change?

There is NO such thing as a 900 series... an m939 series yes. Indeed the 20 tons / M915 Series need there own area, totally different animal.

How often do you tow half a ship with your HET ?

I would think that the slowest that truck will go w/ tranny locked up would be way to fast to pull "that" load. We need more pics! :-)

How often do you tow half a ship with your HET ?

I bet ya the truck is not doing the pulling, I bet ya the main winch is. There are 3 winches on the rear of a HET yes? The HET is prob just a mobile winch platform. Pulling all that w/ driveline will tear up a trans I bet.

Who has a receiver on their 5t?

Yep, I think there are about 3 of those posts similar all over the place. Here is a handy hint, if you click on the #18 in the top right hand corner of that post, the URL changes to a link to "Just" that post... :-) Then you can highlight a word and turn it into a hyperlink, like this...

Who has a receiver on their 5t?

My design is somewhere in the "What have you done to your 5 ton" thread. This topic comes up A LOT. It deserves its own area. Check out what I did! LOL, krap, I can't remember how to find it and I am tired of trying to find it for people! Nothing personal mind you, it is just the search...

Would you drive your 5t to Baja?

I stopped going there decades ago but when I did go I would always be sure to buy the additional insurance. Have him order up a tow truck and meet him at the border w/ a trailer or dolly to get him home he rest of the way.

    M923A1 Air Problem

#1 Call a pro for advice. But... Let it build as high as it will go then shut it off. JUMP under the truck and listen for a leak at the rears. See if you can ID an air leak at one wheel. If you find a leak at one wheel cap off that air line to it and cage that one wheel. Vise grips? I do...
