The injection pump has checked out and needs replaced. And the 6.2 diesel is not a converted gasoline engine. The Goodwrench 5.7 diesel was a converted 350 Oldsmobile gasoline engine. And in the end after replacing and redesigning the engine they done it right. But by then the damage was done...
Sounds to me that it would be easier to just buy a truck that has air conditioning. Financially and functionality it just makes more sense. Paint the new truck Camo if it makes you feel better. But A/C and sound systems were never intended in the CUCV R & D. Totally why I would do with out A/C...
Get the old one out. And contact Yukon axle and gear. https://www.yukongear.com/productdetails.aspx?ProdID=3933
They have all the parts you need and are afraid to ask for. Google Dana 70 Pinion Yoke. many options come up. But you need to get the old one off. Good Luck and Have a Great Day.
Today after working a full day I came home and worked on the Red Devil. I had no luck or replies finding the oil cooler line bracket so I made one. It worked fine. And NO I did not let the duct tape on the bracket, that was just till I cut the bolt to the proper length. I use a piece of...
WOW. Talk about being haunted by a CUCV. I have a friend that is in the salvage business. I called him to see if he had any 8 ft bed that I could use as a pit to burn scrap material from a modular home I am razing on a property. I ask him to drop it off on the lot in the woods and I would get it...
It is 99% bolted together. It has a weld on each side that holds the gate opening in check. An angle grinder will make quick work of cutting the welds at the floor line. If the floor is decent I would salvage it. Good Luck.
That starter is stuck out there in the fly wheel teeth. Disconnect the batteries and get the starter off and checked. That is where I would start. Get a flywheel tool and turn the flywheel 360* and inspect the teeth first hand. Pictures and report back. Good Luck.
Why does that rear differential look so much different than the CUCV M1008/M1028's I seen? That looks like a Dana 60. I may be wrong. But just for the record that is a very rusty yoke. Get the spray/oil can out. Doing it dry makes it 10X harder. CLP will even help. Once you have the straps off...

This socket will get it off. Salvage sockets work.
Tonights goal was to get the left inner fender installed and everything done on the left side. Goal met. Looks like another person that lost their grease gun. I see it all the time on everything. I will get the right side on Friday evening. Have a Great Day and Be Safe.
Get a good 6 point socket or a wrench. I mean Snap-On , Mac, or a salvage socket. Jack the back end up put it in neutral and get the bolts off one at a time by placing it in park. They are 7/16" hex headed 1/4" fine thread bolts. But 12 point wrenches and sockets have their place. Getting suborn...
Abbylind I am still waiting patiently for a report on the LMC transmission cooler lines. I have Mr. Rusty sitting here and he needs to have the transmission lines, flex-plate, exhaust replaced. I have to get rolling on that but have been holding off waiting for a fit and finish report on the...
Yesterday after a long day at work I did come home and change the hood install the replacement left fender on the Red Devil. The left front impact had the entire front end sheet metal shifted to the right. It was evident when you looked at the door gap on the right side. The door gap at the rear...
I sold both perfect no rust M1028 floors for $500. each. They were perfect. I sold them to the same guy in Connecticut. I could have sold a dozen more after I sold them. But like always. Store something 20 years. Sell it and next week someone you know wants it and offers you crazy money for it...
FYI. You can change the flexplate without dropping the transmission out of the truck. I just wanted to put that out there for you. You will need 4 3/8" x 4" grade 8 bolts.
Yes Sir. Oil and grease are the only true lubricants on hinges and moving parts. These old trucks have many oil and grease moving parts. I get the oil camn oout all the time. I had a barn door that closed hard and opened hard. I kept hearing about it from Mrs. I went up and looked at it and...

Very good. I applaud your experience. If you master the rear gate system you are a true CUCV mechanic. I seldom see any gates that are 100% functional. I say it is all in proper maintenance. I have a gate at my house right now that is FUBAR. I will be working on that. I use brush seals in...
I have done it on 12volt DC Liftgates, electric hoists, winches and never had any ill side effects. When DC electric motors are stuck and smoking hot I cut the cable. With out the positive and negative involved at the same time it is just a wire. I cut a few CUCV cables that were stuck on...
