I grease my front end every other oil change. Three pumps of grease to each fitting. I grease it more often if I am plowing or mudding. Takes 10 minutes. Takes a few hours annually to grease the upper ball joints on an M1009 with new greaseable ball joints. But done once a year is good for wheel...
Removing it from the knuckle? It is tapered and just requires a puller to pop it out. Or a Fork. A fork ruins the rubber grease seal but works if you are replacing the tie rod end. I can see you beat it out. What's done is done. Good Job.
I seen this picture on the internet and thought that would be an awesome bed. I remember when you could get a 10 ft bed on a Chevrolet pickup truck. It was 1979-1980. I only ever remember seeing one at the dealership. But if this picture is real and not photo shopped I doubt you could load...
Hey let's see some pictures of that restoration. Breathing life bak into a frame and cab that has been dead since 2005 is a chore in itself. Very interested to see it here in Pennsylvania.
I removed the right inner fender from a customers M1009The radiator is sitting flat on the steel support. The isolators retired and moved inward. The left inner fender is NOT much better. It does not have the battery weight to support so I will let that up to the owner. Have a Great Day.
If your M1028 needs coil spring shocks you have bigger problems. That truck can handle a lot of weight on the stock leaf springs. Coil spring shocks won't do diddly after the leaf springs are loaded up. I broke a few stock springs mounts off the axle on my M1028 when I was rebuilding my house. I...
Where have you been? It arrived over 2 months ago. Yes no more CUCV driving as my daily. I reposted the pictures for your viewing. The new truck was built 01/02/2019 The new truck was delivered to me 01/15/2019 at my worksite. The whole experience was cool to see it come right off the carrier...
I bought a pair of right inner fender aprons. WOW these have gone up in price. The shipping is just as much as the fender when you buy one. So I bought 2 and kept them at a lower price. I remember when GM new picked up at the dealer cost me $31. the front fenders were $84. and a new GM door...
I removed the front axle from my M1009 and sent it out stripped to a shop and had the seals changed. Cost me $100. to have the seals changed. Of course I took full advantage of the situation and steam cleaned and scrubbed the axle before painting it. Made the entire axle look much better and I...
Quick fuel pump tip. I can change a fuel pump on a CUCV in less than an hour. I do it topside and never get fuel in my face. I remove the passengers side Generator 2 brackets and all. Makes the whole job a breeze. If you choose disconnect the batteries. I don't and never had a any trouble. Also...
You tried heat and couldn't get the nuts off the tank straps? Cherry RED gets it every time. Good Luck. The tank straps are inexpensive. It don't matter if the are made in China or Katmandu. If they fit and get tight they are the right ones. Good Luck.
Summer 2017 Terminus M1009 in 1 day from that on left to this on right. And a week later. The paint endured the real test. Yankee Lake Ohio. Truck Gone Wild. All the sanding , prep work and painting was done outside under the shade of trees. All in an 8 hour period. My Sons and friends helped...
Golly gee wilikers why didn't I think of all this back at post 18. Must be my first trip around the block in an M1009. It is definitely fuel restriction issues. Even with a trailer load of wood I can navigate the mountains of Pennsylvania at 45 on a bad day in a stock M1009. But lets keep up...
If it were mine I would go over the entire fuel system. From the pick up tub in the fuel tank to the delivery nozzles. Cost you less than a $1K to do the labor and all. I think you have delivery issues in the fuel system. I used an M1009 for 20 years as a wood hauler and I loaded a 10ft x 6ft...
maybe dumb question. Did you go back and ask the shop for the part? Was it there when it went there? It is bolted thru the fan shroud and held in place with a 1/4" x 20 1'1/2" bolt. It sandwiches the lines between the shroud and the lines. Good Luck. In the absence of the bracket I used 2...
Are you speaking of the little Mickey Mouse earred bracket with the 1/4" X 20 nut welded in the center? Easy fix. Or if you need one and are not in a rush I am sure I have a few.
Strap nuts I would heat and remove. Toss the old ones and get 4 new ones. 7/16 X 14 nuts. Less than $2. and no more aggravation. Spraying rust helps but heat is the silver bullet. I know it's a fuel tank but I weld closer than that at fuel tanks all the time on new trucks. No wet fuel and all is...
Just something to consider if you have a CUCV with the upper battery support hold downs missing. Gravity is all that was holding the front battery in this M1009. I see people put both batteries on the front tray and never consider the weight that are adding to that inner fender. Do as you wish...
