1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

https://www.sae.org/publications/technical-papers/content/2001-01-2717/ Just when you think you can just change a fuse with lighting issues. They come up with the virtual fuse. I was in a brief class on the new fuse systems. I opted out to take the course. I did how ever receive good news from...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

The more I look the more I find. I removed the radiator today. I am optimistic about this radiator. It appears it has been replaced. The aluminum oil cooler lines have both been replaced. The bracket is missing that holds the cooler line in place on the fan shroud so someone opted to use wire...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

Everything went well today. It is a slow process and requires a lot of patience. I also was very dirty when I was completed. A lot of poor work was done. Overall the M1009 is in good condition. It needs some TLC and I am the guy to get that done. I am going to pull the radiator out and get it...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

I was outside in the beautiful sunshine working on my customers M1009. Every where I looked I found issues and parts messed up. Over all it is a good vehicle. It needs some TLC. It has lots of little issues and missing parts and fasteners here and there. Just like most I get to see. I am doing...

Any of you guys have your m1009 setup for Overlanding?

I used several M1009's very hard. I broke 1 rear axle when I jumped it on a motocross track. I was in the hooptie hoops when the rear axle bent upward and the axle shaft broke. I wheeled the M1009's very hard and never broke anything other then that axle. I did it with stock size tires and no...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

What is the little L bracket included in the kit? Forget it. I guess that is to hold the sway bar up when disconnected. I will suggest this. But I would rather pitch the springs and blocks and go down on a stock suspension. Worked a long time for me. Thank you.

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

I'm asking about the lift kit. It is a 4" and has blocks in the rear and springs up front. I hate lift kits with a passion. Must the spacers be in the sway bar brackets? I don't see the bar being effective with the sloop that bar has. And the bushings are worn out. I think with new bushings and...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

How can that front sway bar work? it is not even tight in the bracket. The shackle bushings are wasted and the sway bar to spring bushings are gone. What is the green plate and why is it there? Looks like savage work to me. https://youtu.be/jM8dCGIm6yc

    Where to find "Door Molding"?

Or google K30 door rubber or weather strip and you'll find a bunch more suppliers. That you will not find on K30. That is on K5 Blazer and Jimmy doors only. If you have a K30 with that seal someone switched the doors. Good Luck. $45. sounds like a steal. Fixed and done.

Options for a Snapped U-joint and Damaged Shaft End

I may be having a Dana 60 parts axle here at the shop soon. I have my bid in on an M1008 that has the front axle busted. Wonder where that would be coming from? HA. Let me know if you need any of them parts. Have a Great Day.

Options for a Snapped U-joint and Damaged Shaft End

Get a Genuine GM Shop manual for 1984 C/K10-30. It covers everything in easy step by step procedures. 1985/1986/1987/will also cover the procedures. A few things cosmetic body and wiper system are different. All the way up to 1991 they made the 1 ton cab chassis/Suburban/ K5 blazer in the older...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

By far the most frustrating thing so far! Great Job. I knew you could get it done. No way is the wrong way. It is the way that gets it done that counts and that way may be wrong the next time. Been there done that. Never the same each time. End results the same. Resolution NOT every time. Have a...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

Beautiful day here in South Central PA. I hope to pull the M1009 rebuild out in the sun. I want to get the garage cleaned out and ready for 7 months of hard CUCV work. I will find out if may batteries held out since last year and if it starts on the first glow. I am optimistic. I have it wired...

Low Voltage and instrument lighting issues

I have used these on several occasions. They are "Made in USA" that is directly west of China. Made in a small little fish town by skilled craftsmen. Good Luck. But the circuit board fits and works. Now if just someone would make a decent bezel/housing.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Be careful. I have been using curved jaw vise grips and needle nose pliers. One of my latest and so far greatest tricks is the wire tie thru the nozzle hole break off the tip/head and pull it out. good Luck.
