I wouldn't say Cummins is that much better of engine , it's just you can get parts anywhere and is a cheap motor to rebuild. And now you can get china knock-offs.

It is not much more wire to go to the front turn signals than to go up under the dash to splice in before the brake circuit . And with a 3 way connector there is not wires to cut .

I would look for a air bag to put inside the coils , that's what we used to use on the early Ford Bronco's that we used for plowing.

You need to have good batteries to diagnosis electrical issues . Turn the bypass out on the fuel shut-off and see if it still dies , then correct your electrical issues.
