I think you will be happier if you put a new set of head gaskets on it and go through them along with the pop-testing and adjusting the injectors.
I believe this is what Gimpy did to his a couple of months ago on his LDS. (Although he did need a gasket.)
If I had a choice between a non-running 818 and that CUCV I'd take the 818 every time.

Based on Monrovia's elevation of 571' above sea level I doubt you are going to change the boiling point of water much from 100 degrees C (212F) and a couple of degrees on checking the temp of an engine is not going to matter. If it does...you are running a little too close to the edge.

I almost feel bad about towing my Deuce with a 105 trailer with my Dodge 1500 4x4. Emergency and safely got it home. Yes, it would pull it easily and stopped well too at very low speeds. Only problem is in grass the Deuce me everywhere it wanted to go.
