A while ago, I was looking at a history of Land Rovers and came across an article that talked about a trailer being powered from the power take-off on the rear of the LR's differential or axle housing via a short drive shaft connected to the trailers axle which contained a differential also...
Can any of you guys with 'photo shop' show me a bobbed deuce pic with the rear/rear axle left on instead of the front/rear axle that most folks have? Curious as to proportions with 12' bed..

I was at a Vintage Trailer Show on the tarmack of the Oakland Army Base in September of 2006 and saw this bobbed Deuce trailer near the entrance..Anyone familiar with it..
Sorry for the crappy pic, it was before I had a digital camera so this is a pic of a pic..

Was just playing around and clicked on one of the sponsored links at the top of one of the SS pages and came up with this rig:

I usually hang out in the Deuce forums but had a question re: multifuel (like a deuce engine) gensets. Do they even exist....say in the range of say 10-20K range..? What I'm looking at is an auto start home genset for power outages. The house is heated with home #2 heating oil and 20% biofuel...
can you just visit a GL yard anytime? I'm going on a road trip soon and will pass by the 'CA, Lassen, Herlong/Sierra' GL yard en-route and wondered if a non-bidder (at the moment or for a current auction) can go in and take a look at the operation and trucks on site at that time..

2 questions:
If one buys a deuce or other ex-military rig from a public agency (State/County/City, not Fed surplus / fed agency), or even a private individual, do you still receive a EUC certificate or has it been erased due to another party owning it..?
Has anyone ventured into Canada or...
Are most diesel truck repair facilities able to do major/minor servicing on Deuce components? I was curious about any major rebuilds or even minor stuff when you are on a road trip and have a breakdown. How about the availability of spares/parts/etc..? Or is it up to the owner to come up with...
Would there be any use/advantage/reasoning to install lockout hubs on all axles..? Curious as to having a choice at any time on which axle/s you want powered..I know most posts refer to lockouts on the front and 2nd axles and leaving the rear powered but I'm wondering if you have a failure in...
As I surf various subjects on deuces I always see reference to mileage and hours.. Some trucks have low miles and low hours, others have high and high.. What determines that a vehicle goes for rebuild and does that mean if a vehicle has never been rebuilt, say 4000 hours, that thats the total...
...are there different bed lengths associated with bobbed deuces..? M105, HMMWV, stock 12' deuce beds, different wheelbases, etc..any pic's of the differences/ pro's and con's of each..Just curious if the bobbed deuce would make a good candidate for a permanent mount (although sold as a...
this ebay auction has ended (Reserve not met @ $5101.50.. )so I thought I'd ask a question. Is this really an M36..? The wheels look too far forward unless the axles have been moved or the size of the tires offset that distance. I asked the guy and he said thats what the data plate said (M36)...
I almost hesitate to ask this '' as I figure those who wish to keep their rigs as stock as possible will be in an uproar..but here goes..
I'm curious what mods are available or have proven themselves, to make the deuce more efficient and a better runner and stop-er? Different turbo's...
How do the slide out sections of the various expansible vans actually work? Are there model differences in operation? Does each panel fold out and then they are all connected / formed into a box shape or do they slide out as a 'box' unit already to go? If its the latter, are there tracks that...
just playing with figures right now (read: no deuce yet) but anyone know specifications (pull rating, manufacturer, etc..) on the stock military equiped deuce winch? Are there different units on different truck models and are they interchangeable? Also curious if everyone feels the stock winch...
can anyone describe this vehicle for me? All I know is its a WW2 GMC 'Workshop' vehicle..
thanks in advance,
Mike

I drove many Deuces all over the southern USA when I was in the Air Force back in the early '70's (609th TCS @ Cannon AFB, New Mexico..Comm Shelter on the back..). Great truck. Eventually looking for one for a camper base...
