Travel plans...cross-country road trip in a M923A2? That sounds like a fun adventure in the making! I'd love to do that sometime I've literally considered having the idea of a 923 as a daily driver.
Granted, I may end up with a Deuce, as a daily driver, and weekend-ly 100-mile each way road...
Interesting. Is it the tin-roofing-sided structure in one of the pics you posted?
It's interesting how different things are in different regions of the state, here in the Southeast park of Alaska it's all wet rot with as much rain as we get!
In fact, the house we're looking at in Delta...
Sounds like a fun Deuce road trip! Seeing your location...I might be moving to Delta Junction around August-ish myself, and possibly be a Deuce owner by then. (Found a place there we might buy). Question: do people hate seeing Deuces on the freeways there with the relatively low top speed...
Good news! Still on the proverbial radar as a project. Current owner is in the process of selling their place in Port Townsend, WA, where it currently sits. He has a rent-to-own tenant there apparently in the main house. Since the current owner of the truck is thus moving out he's there...
I'm also another Alaskan member, who plans to be living in Fairbanks for college, starting next year. Looking to get a Deuce or 5 ton and have a possible '71 Deuce project in the works, but always looking...for a 939 series 5 ton.
Congrats! If you don't mind me asking, where specifically in nor-cal? I lived in the more southern part of nor-cal, in Atascadero (San Luis Obispo county) and plan to move back there...
Yeah I totally sympathize with not creating yet another "Do I need a CDL?" thread...there's more than enough of those already LOL
OK another total idiot newbie stupid question: What is a spring pack and what does it do? (Yeah, I'm that ignorant LOL, but been reading as much as I can and trying...
Interesting stuff!
So if I'm understanding the CA DMV website correctly, with a class A I could legally drive a Deuce, but is that a type of CDL? My understanding (Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken) is that the 2-1/2 ton M35 Deuce is supposed to fall under the gross weight requirements...
So what I still don't understand is: What's the registration and smog loophole (if any) for a M35A2 Deuce or M939 series 5 ton as a daily driver/commuter car and personal workhorse (firewood, trips to Home Depot for lumber) but nothing commercial (not a tour company, not for hire, not a taxi...
DodgedougAK, slightly off topic but where in SE Alaska? I also live in SE and plan to be living in Fairbanks during college...hopefully driving a Deuce up there too!
Another update: Should be getting pictures soon. Then I'll know what I'm getting into:). It may end up as mine in a trade for the boat equivalent of housesitting.
