    John Hollingsworth generator NSN 6115-01-234-6545

The generator is a MEP-005 with the acoustic kit installed. Look for TM 5-6115-465-10 through -35 for all the manuals. ASK has a different NSN, but the generator part is the same.

    Why 2650rpm max?

LDS-1A piston and wrist pin weigh 7 pounds, 2.2 ounces on the local Post Office scale. Verified by using some other items (one ounce weight and a 4 pound 9.1 ounce trigger weight) as a cross-check. Now to find out what the LDT piston weighs!

    Why 2650rpm max?

Well, looks like I need to take one of my LDS-1A pistons to the Post Office and weigh it, then have someone else do the same on an LDT piston.

Looks like about 200 miles to go at 6pm, it's after 7 now, so hopefully only about another three hours. Keep us posted, as we are all praying for the rest of the trip to be uneventful!

poppop is north of you, off I-16 in Brooklett, GA. As doghead said, see if you can get Pete. If he's nearby, you could put everything on one of his trailers!

Phil and PJ took off down the road to Florida about 1pm. They should make the FL state line about 6pm and will probably stop just south of Jacksonville for the night. He wants to baby the new engine till it has had enough time to break in, so mainly speeds in the mid 50's.

    Spin on oil filter kit

I've got them on one deuce, and will put them on the others as soon as I can afford it!

Which Technical Manual for crankcase oil drain?

Open the rear drain plug first with a five gallon bucket below it. When it stops running out, open the front one. When both have stopped running, put the plugs back in! Then change the oil filters - or better yet, put on of the spin on kits on if you haven't already. THEN, put the fresh oil...

Phil took it for a run down the street and found a little antifreeze coming out of a place on the top radiator hose where it was crimped and cut the rubber. He says it has lots of power - he could lay rubber with the dualies. We will go back over in the morning and put the old engine in the...

Adam and Craig have headed home and then to work. Phil and PJ are asleep, after having worked till about 8am. Almost everything is done with the new engine, but sleep will put fresher eyes on the last few tasks. I'm supposed to wake them after 1pm and then it's back to Mitch's compound to...

    Florida Rally is On!

Kenny, That's fine with me. with a 1000 mile round trip I can only make one, and it will be Mike's - I'll try Richloam some other time.

What can you do with a MV radio?

Since MV radios are on frequencies that are not open to the public, and only some of them are available to HAM radio licensees, bout all you can legally do is listen! Now if you are far enough out in the boonies (20+ miles to the next human), and run low enough power (think 1/2 watt or less)...

Stonepicker1 is taking pics, but has no way of uploading them right now. As of 7pm, he, his son PJ, and Craig are taking the truck apart to pull the old engine, while Adam and Mitch are working on pulling the new engine in-the-can off the M818. More updates will follow.

Pickup day is fast approaching for the Deuce

The Eastover location is at the back end of Ft. Jackson, which is the National Guard WETS (WeekEnd Training Site). Several people have picked up from there - Wreckerman and Ferro are two that come to mind. I'm sure there are others. It's almost on the way from where Ferro lives and where he...

    Florida Rally is On!

Kenny, From what I saw, most of the food shows up with Mike when he comes up from south Florida, and Walter is supposed to bring his MKT this year, which will make food prep easier (and I'm planning on coming to help out in the kitchen). That leaves the GP medium, tables, chairs, portapotties...

Got a new deuce and now it won't start

Sometimes the starter switch is going bad. Instead of pushing it in and holding it, push it in for just a split second a couple of times - it may very well start then. (can also be a bad place in the starter windings that will do this).

Fuel Cutoffs, PTOs, and other confusing things

The transfer case has a plate where the PTO can be installed, but very few come with a PTO unless they have had a winch. PTO's for the reverse directions usually have two output shafts, one in front, one in back. there is no place to mount two PTO's on a single transfer case. The engine stop...

    M211 mess truck

There were mess trucks during WWII. Canada kept the idea going after the war, while the US went with kitchen tents. Don't know why!
