    M916A1 battery alternative configuratons

I follow'ish how the factory set up is - I was looking for the right way to use type 31 batteries as an alternative to 4 x 6TL's - do I squeeze 4 in there and get new cables so I can wire the posts the same as factory (posts will be in different physical locations) or is there a way to use just...

    M916A1 battery alternative configuratons

Does you truck have the large red isolator/battery cutoff knob next to the battery box - if so, doesn't that not kill power to EVERYTHING?

    M916A1 battery alternative configuratons

... but do you need 12V and if so, how did you get it? The 916A1 needs both. Pilling 12V off of one battery will then unbalance the loading of the pair - pressumably.

    M916A1 battery alternative configuratons

6TL's are hard to come by and silly money. What are the viable options for 12/24 series/parallel ? Factory layout. Cables are very specific lengths so would have to recable if going with 4 "civi" batteries. 24V only as in M809 series.

5 ton convoy light installation TM?

I am gonna throw something in here (FYI) which isn't related to install but operation on the highway.. For those that haven't taken the tow truck endorcement - either full CDL or 1ton pickup size, they may not know that there are real regulations for flashing orange (inc rotating beacons)...

    M1 and M1A1

Knowing John for many years, it's with some confidence that I would say these are originally equipped. I have had a lot of experience with the later A1 (assisted in restoration of one and touring Normandy for the 50th in it before coming to the States) and have seen Johns a few times - all the...

    Number placard?

Thats how my M916A1 looks - green numbers/"C" on tan bridge plate, on tan vehicle.

    Number placard?

Yes - got all that - but mine aren't yellow, my truck is tan (desert) and I have green numbers but the top lock plate is green one side and tan the other - I need one of them to have the red "C"... but green to match the numbers? ... and should the back of the "C" be plain green to match the...

    Towbar identification assistance

I think I have one of these - probably don't need it - JIC anyone see's this posting and decides to go looking. Not really a "for sale" listing (which would mean this post is in the wrong place) - thought I'd short circuit things...

    Number placard?

Ordered a set just for the "C" - like you say - easier than trying to get the stencilling cut. BUT, question for the enlightened masses: "All numbers to replace the numbers on both side of each plate and the red "C" for the holder." says the blurb in the Delta Team Decals listing. But the "C"...

    Desert tan

Clearly you need a bigger pool. Each vehicle I aquire, I seem to go a different direction re paint. NATO temperate, NATO Arctic, plain drab (70's Australian) and the last truck went sand, then I managed to find the correct trailer for it.... already sand!

    M936 prototype or heavily modified?

"Back in the day", ie., WWII, it was common practice for wreckers to be disguised as GS cargo trucks in convoys as they were high valued targets for straffing attacks. Bows and tilts (hoops and canvas) were carred for such occasions. Also they wouldn't run as 'tail end charlie' which is the...

What did you do to your trailer today.

Post Findlay '21 & M870A1:- Must have measured all 60+ on site, found the only one that was 1 1/4" (&1") with hex hole... Fortunately I have a load of crow bars kicking around - one was 3/4" hex so it got decapitated. (Good-older ones are octagonal) Got a pair of the 400mm deliniator plates...
