I thought it went well with some of the seabee paint on the pipeline bed. I have been thinking about the markings, but I have not made up my mind yet.
I will be painting the base, but just didn't have time to get it clean/prepped this time around.
jimmy, I would definately appreciate as many pics & measurements of that sapre tire carrier as you can stand. (might be a good idea to start a thread just for it.)
I have had to use a prybar to rotate the driveshaft between the trans(in 5th gear) and the transfercase(in N) in order to get it lined back up (seems easier to get the HH out than back in) I would definatley draft a second set of eyes to watch for the red tooth.

would be closer to the right size. even though my jeep does not run/is on blocks I have been thinking about this already. I haven't run the tire in the link, but I will definately be looking at it or the new goodyear duratrac in the...
I don't see a problem with it from a strength perspective, but I do have some questions...

For instance, that thing weighs about eight times what my Jeep weighs, yet it only uses 5 times as much fuel. Ironically it weighs about...
On the bright side, my thrashing to prepare for this trip seems to have paid off. Roughly 500 miles total and every thing worked as it should.
To add excitement most of our drivetime was a temps below freezing and the first several hours were slow going in the snow. Since I almost never drive...
Unfortunatley my jeeps electrical had been hacked beyond recognition before I got it. I think it is primarily done on the assumption that parts will be easier/cheaper to find. (which may be true if for whatever reason the starter or generator takes a dump) While I do like the 24V setup, the...
It depends on the size of the boom. There are knucklebooms out there meant to be mounted on a 3/4 ton pickup (there are also booms that would overload a bridge truck)
I would make the decision on deuce vs. 5 ton based on the boom you choose and where you decide to mount it. Mine weighs about 4000lbs and that is as much as I would be willing to mount right behind the cab (front axle loading is a concern with the deuce).
The deuce is nice because...
