the spare tire bracket on an a3 is about 3" longer (on the bar that sticks out, 1.5" socket)
compared to an a2 bracket, I tried to fit an 395/ 85 on it but it woud not fit
My M931a2 was doing the same thing, I replaced some fuel lines ( they were sucking air in to the system) and bypassed the fuel tank selector switch ( on driver seat floor) So i was only running one tank.
You want the skinny o-rings, that is what I have found in my rims.
Your rims where probably leaking because it was the fat o-ring, or had some rust like mine ( on skinny)
You can buy those o-rings from a big truck tire place for $8
