    M1008 dragged home today...

So, just looked at the -20P at the engine oil fill grommet. Next page has the part number, googled it with "grommet". https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=14028942%20grommet

    M923/A1 Fuel system common issues

Replace your rubber supply lines, if you haven't already. They are well known for air leaks causing loss of prime and idle issues and slow acceleration. Also, the fuel pickup tube in the tank is well know to rust near the top of the tank(inside) and cause the same issues.

Just to be clear, there was no disconnect on these units originally.

Wait Light Stays on long time but M1009 will not crank

If your stater will not turn the motor over, as I'm understanding then you have a starter problem, not a glow plug issue. The GP controller and the GP relay have nothing to do with the engine turning over.

    taboo to talk

I feel that there is just too little fact being posted in this discussion and way too much opinion/personal interpretation/wag. That's my stance on this topic.

How do you interpret this statement from that 1994 "document"?

Again, we're only talking about humvees here. Not interested in any other vehicles in this forum, even for comparison.

Could you show me where that statement originated?

fwiw, I'm not trying to "stir the pot". Not much of a conversation when everyone just nods and agrees. I don't agree with many of the comments on this topic. Some of the rational posted by humvee owners simply astounds me.

For the military or government, yes I agree they were exempt.

This discussion is solely about the humvee. Stay on track. And just because I have them in my sigline does not mean I drive them on the road.

So, you guys have collapsible steering columns, reflective marker and taillights that are dot approved? Crash rated bumpers? Crumple zones that meet fed standards? Side door bracing for side impact collisions? Pass rollover tests? The list goes on... Just because some guy says it's ok, does...

There should be a plate on the injector pump. LDS motors were randomly used at anytime during rebuilds. There was no special lds powered truck in 71.

Wait Light Stays on long time but M1009 will not crank

I'd say it's time to lay under it with your meter. See if you have 24v on the big cable on the starter, and see if you get voltage to the solenoid when in the crank position. You might be suprised and find your starter hanging by the wires...
