well we got the truck back together last week, and was thrilled to see that the truck fired right up again. It ran for about 30 seconds and then started to surge in RPM's. It ran up to about 2000 r's and settled in there for a bit and then gradually started idling down until it settled in at...
in post #14 using the exploded view of the injection pump, can you explain to me where you see this ball? I don't have my truck with me right now so I can't just go out and see for myself....... thanks!
we've got on our farm two 2-155's with a 478 hercules, one 1950 with a 453 detroit, and our 1650 and 1850 used to have waukesha's in them until we repowered with cummins b series 5.9 liter diesels. The oliver tractors were very well set up for different engines and I know some have put 466...
Sorry for being so blunt Ryan........I do apologize for ill tempered response to you. I guess I've always been a man who has never kept myself locked inside the "box" when it comes to becoming more efficient. The Military is ...............well The Military........ I have no problems with...
Hey!!.......come on don't get crabby with me...... If you guys had read my post you would have seen that I do not in any way advocate driving these trucks illegally. bottom line is that because of the way things work out a lot of people will/have take that chance. what I am pointing out is...
Personally I think GL may have to rethink their own policies. Don't get me wrong I am all for safe driving and etc, but if you buy a truck from GL they should amend their policies to read if you intend to drive purchased vehicles off the lot you need to be in compliance with all safe driving...
well.......we got the injectors back, got them installed, and truck is up and running again. seems we have a little less smoke than before, but I think I may need to set those injectors again. This being my first time I may not have gotten it quite right just yet. I was told that the...
Here are some more pictures as repairs progress. the first picture is what I found in the coolant, roughly about a gallon and a half of fuel in the antifreeze.
The second picture is of the injector tubes, as you can see one of the tubes was in need of serious destruction to get it out of...
Hey Jeff...........wife says HI and sorry she missed meeting you the other week...... the offer still stands for you and the missus if you ever make it back to Winona look us up.
Sir:
I will speak for Jeff......I recommend him highly as Jeff is the man that helped me to bring my 5 ton dumper home. He is legitimate guys.....the real deal!!!! I've never seen someone grab ahold of the situation so efficiently and with so much knowledge. Anyone can call me on my cell...
Today I took the heads to Dave K and he took a look at the heads that I brought him. He seemed to think that the heads were ok and didn't need to be resurfaced, he could tell by the way the markings were on the mating surface that the head gasket was not blown and he proceeded to pull the...
LOL.........I hear ya there........I think that JP-8 has a distinct smell all to it's own as compared to regular #2 diesel. the car still smells a bit like it. But I'm not complaining I'm enjoying the heck out of this venture so far even with the recent discovery of the need for some repairs.
Agreed, I'm planning on draining the tanks and installing a new fuel filter as well. would you guys recommend physically removing the tank and turning it upside down and etc in order to flush or would just pulling the plug and draining/flushing that way work?
One of the things that I did...
Yesterday I started working on the truck, first thing first.......I drained the coolant and let set for a while in some plastic jugs, after the coolant settled over night I came back today to find that in the seven or so gallons of coolant/fuel mixture, I had at least one and half gallons of...
I'd be interested in learning how much it costs to rebuild injectors as well.......... I know this is an old post, but I'm dealing with bad injectors right now as well.
I had a chance to talk today with a 35 year veteran mechanic who works primarily on Cummins Engines. He explained to me that yes indeed the fuel can get into the coolant, and pressurize the expansion tank, and that the only way that this can happen is for the copper rings around the the...
LOL maybe a bent kadodie shaft too? eh? Well at least I didn't go into this purchase with the idea that nothing was going to go wrong......... This isn't my first rodeo with equipment...... I've seen way too many mechanical failures to have those kinds of delusions.
Well today was the first day I got to work the truck pretty hard hauling wood off of a site, I have to say with the recent warm weather and the mud we got into, the truck performed well climbing around on the hills and in the greasy conditions. But I did run into my first break down with it as...
