What is the word on in-tank fuel pumps these days?

I'll post a few pictures tomorrow. I'll have to go pull it out. I havn't checked the fuse because the pump ran very slowly for a little bit and sounded very sluggish. Now it doesn't turn at all. I could check the fuse for grins but feel the motor is burnt up from running until the batteries died.

What is the word on in-tank fuel pumps these days?

He guy's. My duece has been dead for a little while since my in-tank pump died after I left the master switch on all night. The pump was nearly new (not olympic it was from White Owl.) I was draining the water and debris out of the primary filter housing with the switch on and forgot all about...

    Ebay claims again-wow

I wander if this is the same guy that had the "dusenhoff" on eBay. That would be perfect! "Over 30k invested in this somewhat complete dusenhoff. Come get your dusenhoff today!"

i came home today, only to see ....

My $.02. I have a 2005 6.0 F-250 and wouldn't trade it for anything. I like the LDT engine with zero electric's and zero emissions devices. Makes for a bulletproof reliable engine. If someone offered to put a cummins in my truck for free to replace my 6.0 I wouldn't do it. To me, nothing sounds...

    Brakes / Bearings dragging?

Why not just drive the truck for a few miles then get out and feel the hubs. Are any warmer/hotter than the others? That will show you a dragging brake or really bad bearing. I'd say it's a brake of some sort, whether wheel or parking, if your truck is coming to a stop down a hill... Most likely...

    Zipper front steer axle seals?

You get a Katrina truck? Are you planning for it to spend more time in water? Wouldn't worry about using zippered boots. Most guy's will run a bead of RTV down the zipper after it's sealed. I went for the zipperless when I did my front axle since I had it all apart anyways. Glad you're getting...

    Blown Head Gasket

Generally what happens is young GI's not following mfr. recommendations on operating the vehicle. You want 5 mins warm up and cool down time at idle before driving and shutting down. Not only for the turbo bearings but just general warmup. Alot of heads warp because GI's overheat them and the...

Front axle seals and boots stepXstep

Glad it's going well for you guy's. I picked up my slide hammer for like $12 harbor freight. I think the more common way to remove the retainers is to find a bit piece of re-bar or a long stiff pipe and stick it through the axle and bang them out that way. Whatever works I guess. -Kelly

Help Bad Water Leak on My Deuce

Some say that there are 2 types of deuces. One's that have had the heads off and ones that will have the heads off. If you are going to pull the heads for any reason definetly replace with the newer gaskets, and have the heads decked so you don't have to do it again soon. All it takes it some...

    Holy crap I did it!!!

Nice looking truck. My deuce started life as a smoker too. I put a turbo on it and adjusted the timing towards the turbo setting. Let me know if you have any unanswered questions about the swap if you plan to do it. Congrats on the truck again! -Kelly

Cut open coolant filter from the deuce

Just a quick question. Seriously, how important is super clean coolant on the multifuel. I own a 2005 6.0 powerstroke diesel so I know how important clean coolant can be to a diesel. The 6.0 is plagued with EGR and OIL COOLER problems caused by factory coolant with left over casting sand from...

In-tank fuel pump issues after 1 year

Unfortunatly, even if my pump was on a seperate switch the same thing would have happened. I was sumping the primary filter bowl so I would have ran the pump and forgot it the same way. Olympic say's the pumps are tested to 2,000 hours so I'm not worried about rigging up different switch just...

In-tank fuel pump issues after 1 year

If the low air buzzer was working it would have been obvious that the switch was still on. It's the first time I've left the switch on as I usually am very thorough in anything I do. I thought I explained the resistor in the first post, "There is a resistor under the cap between the power lead...

In-tank fuel pump issues after 1 year

Bjorn, there is only a resistor in there, no capaciter. I think the resistor is only 5W. I'm not thinking that caused the problems. It makes more sense to me that the batteries running down killed it. I do no abuse my truck and take more precaution than anyone I know with the truck. However I...

In-tank fuel pump issues after 1 year

Well, I went outside and pulled the pump out and plugged it back in. I tapped it with a wrench and it started working again but was loud and sounded like it really didn't want to run. I turned the accessory switch off and back on and it doesn't come back on until you tap it. It sounds really...

In-tank fuel pump issues after 1 year

I'm not sure on the power rating but will go out in a few and check it. I wasn't sure on if it should be there either but it was in the truck when I got it which I figured was the way it came. If it's not supposed to be there I'll leave it out of the next pump for sure. Thanks for letting me...
