    Damage From Running Split Boot?

If you're really worried, it would be good to do a couple of things: read the step by step axle boot cover removal/installation thread (only the first few pages) to get a good idea what the inside of the axle looks like, and then look at the grease coming out of your wheel to see if it looks...

    Field-expedient fuel quality test?

It looks like the kid might have put some watery fuel into the tank this week, the duece only made it 2 blocks after being refueled before it died, and refused to start. It runs as good as new after a complete fuel system drain and refill. Here's the question: does anyone have a qood method to...

Disaster Averted... Just to find a new problem

next time you realize that you're on the verge of imminent brake failure, shut down and effect a roadside repair (or call a wrecker). The 60-year old technology on your 40-year old truck gives you a very thin margin of error. If you experience a failure with single circuit brakes, instead of...

    Tire safety.

My wife's cousin was changing a tractor tire last year that blew up on him while he was inflating it. The way he was twitching, the farmer thought he was dead. He survived, but it took him from a tire professional to the disability list. Tires are something that command respect and attention...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I almost turned the fabric on the driver's seat from green to brown. I was chugging up a gravel trail on the crest of a ridge, loaded with about 3 cords of wood. Some logs were dry and light, others were a bit heavier. So, right about the time I'm in 2nd low, about 150 feet above a hairpin...

    Rumblin Wreck Build

Wow, that's a sound system. I like how you hid it in the map compartment. Any chance your amps could get damaged from rain coming in the back window? Only thing it looks like you're missing is the PA!:-o

    Deuce Shifting Questions

I use the clutch 100% of the time. It's there, so why not use it? I'm willing to risk having to replace a clutch sooner than I replace the engine, rather than having to risk repairing the transmission.

    Gasoline with 10% Ethanol

I checked out the multi-diesel station in my town today. Yep, there's 3 different diesel handles (and 1 gasoline). Green is "regular" ULSD, yellow is Biodiesel and Red is Off-road only. I think they've changed the red-handled pump a bit, I noticed it is now placarded "pre-pay inside only...

    Gasoline with 10% Ethanol

some stations in my town have two handles at the diesel pump (or maybe 3). I think you can choose from regular diesel, a biodiesel blend and an offroad diesel. The offroad pump holster has placards warning about running dyed/untaxed diesel. Could this be the case in your situation?

    HMMWV Brush Truck Tragedy

the funding issue goes both ways. Although the setup may have been a result of insufficient funding, we can make the reasonable assumption that the original fire department used some funded equipment to fabricate the setup. Sure, some parts might have been had for free, but other specialized...
