I prefer the old way as well. Alot can be deciphered from the conversation in the thread. Additional details that I wanted to know about it, whether its available or not still, etc.
There are plenty of ads that are still active that are actually sold, and an open comment would quickly eliminate...
Very helpful write up. So am I going to be able to do the same with 100% co2? What gauge steel do you use?
So what is in thise rockers that leads to this common issue? My rust is further back, only underneath. It looks like a sandwich of metal layers in there. Where does the water get in?
No argument there. I don't run biodiesel at all in my generator, or tractor for that matter, as they both sit for long periods of time. In general, biodiesel has a shelf life, and I don't run it in anything that I think it may sit in for more than 6 months.
Now, in an emergency situation or...
So Dan, I see your comments in the water injection thread. What and how are you planning on setting that up?
I am thinking about getting a 5 gallon water can mounted in the jerry can holder on the drivers door, and tap into that for the water storage. Drop an electric pump like what you got...
Running ASTM certified biodiesel through the copper lines in our trucks should be of no consequence. You need moisture and oxygen to cause the corrosion and oxidation that most people refer to regarding biodiesel and copper incompatibility. The sealed areas that are the fuel supply lines...
If you ask me, the gap in the transmission is between 3rd and 4th. Any other shifts are relatively close and the truck has enough power to move to the next gear. 3rd to 4th is like an 8 or 900 rpm drop.
I run the 395's and 2400 rpm on the highway gets me 60 mph on a GPSs.
I live around...
Picked up a used playscape off craigslist this past weekend for my kids. Using the deuce makes the experience that much better. Better allows me to justify owning the truck to my wife when I can pick up cool stuff for the kids.
Dan. Welding question.
I'm a noob welder, and picked up a Hobart 140 mig welder to make my snorkel and patch up my rusty areas on the body. I want to hook up gas.
I can get get bottles of 100% CO2 or 100% Argon pretty easily. No mix though. Any advice on what gas I should run it with?
So I got it all buttoned up and ran it. I think it leaks out the front hoses and the fan just evaporates it. Im gonna just drive the thing and stop looking for problems.
I don't follow. What do you mean?
I pressurized the coolant system revealing hose leaks. If I had a head gasket leak causing coolant to find its way into the combustion chamber, it should have come out the injector hole. No?
I have no evidence of coolant on the dipstick.
Picked up the radiator pressure tester from harbor freight for 70$ Actually a pretty nice kit. I only need a small portion of it though.
I pulled the injectors and pressurized to 10lbs and let it sit for a couple hours.
Results?
Hose leaks. No coolant in the cylinders. I cranked it and...
The plug on the front of the ip was a real pain to get to. The winch drive shaft was in the way.
I also disconnected the oil pressure gauge and put a mechanical gauge in its place. Ill tee it later. I was getting 0 psi at hot idle with the stock gauge setup.
The mechanical gauge shows 20 at...
Not yet. I've been eyeing the harbor freight kit for $85 though.
So I drove it around today again. Didnt really see a fluctuation in the coolant height. I am now parking it in the same spot to check the height. I didnt take it down the highway though.
I realized that my dam manifold heater is...
I sent them an email a couple minutes ago.
Yesterday I power washed the block so that I could see any leaks. Then took it for a 10 mile drive through the hills. I have an oil drip coming down from the gasket out the exhaust side. More than seepage I think. Oil, not coolant. Maybe its related.
