    Even new old stock rings from 1969 would work fine. The rings don't go bad sitting on a shelf, they lose their spring by being compressed in a cylinder for a long time.

    At least hone the cylinders lightly. There are no valve seals, just guides. Someone here has installed some valve seals before on these engines but I don't know the details. The guides are iron.

    Same way you install a one piece gas ring on an AR-15 bolt. You kind of thread it on like a heli coil.

    I would try and find a set of rings for one cylinder, buy them, then try and match them up to a better quality new production set. Something that will last longer. Rings that only last 1500 hours almost have to be made of crap material, unless you consider the whole multifuel dry start issue...
