Up to 1971 they are called Short Nose CJ-5's, 1972 brought you the inline 6cyl. and the 304cu in 8 cyl. those are the Long Nose CJ-5's the tub dimensions remained the same... 1976 on the frame, tub, just about everything changed...
Its a CJ-5, I'd like to ask what is the color of the engine and trans and who makes it a very close match for the paint they used on the 225ci V-6 that Iam restoring for my 1971 CJ-5

I never heard of that both the Military M38A1 and the Civilian CJ-5 with the 134CI OHV had 5:38 gears, they did have 3.73 and 4.11's as an option in the CJ-5's later on but that was when they started to use the V-6's as an option..
Does the gas tank have fuel in it? If it does and its not leaking, drain it there is a drain plug on the bottom, remove it very carefully because it mite be rusted to the floor of the A1, you want to try and save an original tank the after market ones are very evpensive and are worthless...
Easy way to see if it was ever mounted look for holes in the bed of the M170, Ill have to say I doubt it if there was one mounted but Ive been doing this long enough that anything is possible... Scott O&O
Ive always found it interesting when people use low mileage unless you won it from a Government auction and they never replaced the Odometer it would be highly suspect that one of these has only 12hundred miles on since it rolled off the assembly line...

Your trans shifter looks to be in 1st and it wouldnt be the first time Ive seen a T-90 filled with water civilian or military, I'd pull the top off of the trans just to see if there is any water in there but make sure you put the shift lever in neutral first..
If it was me I would try to free up the engine first means a lot when selling, it looks to be all there by that I mean the expensive stuff..... Is there a Data Tag on the passenger side rear wheel well if its there those numbers will match the data plates number on the dash as far as the blue...
You mentioned that you where going to pull the carb and have it rebuilt, by looking at the picture it looks like the carb is a Solex a common replacement for the Carter YS that they came just thought Id let you lnow there are rebuild kits for both and the manuals are on line... Scott O&O
