I defiantly agree that their is room for improvement with the stock springer seat but $400 sounds a tad steep. A progressive bottom out bump stop would really improve things for us big guys.

It's expensive to make tooling for something like that, been there done that. I really don't think you would want to spray them with a chopper gun. They will be weak and crack easily.
