Went out for a ride on NYD on a (used to be easy) trail and almost had to be pulled out. Here are a couple picsMy pressure washer is gonna get a workout.
Defbob, Did you hook up your intake heater grid ? I dont have mine hooked up and they dont like starting up when they are cold, I have to hurry up and get mine out of the garage so I dont get yelled at for the diesel smell in the house. They sure cruise down the highway great and about 8000...
I was wondering why everyone opts for a trailer bed and dont cut the original bed down ? A guy in St Louis bobbed one and cut the bed and troop seats down and it turned out beautiful. Neat build!
Build that thing the way you want it. I actually enjoy the power steering and brakes on my truck and cruising 70 is not bad either. Kinda makes you wanna drive it all over.
I may be a little critical about my truck. I t got a little warm (205 deg.) while pulling 5500 lbs on a 95 degree day but other than that it runs 180 all the time. I even ran the truck with no fan for a week or two while chasing down an electric fan and it never heated up under normal driving as...
I used the stock radiator till it sprung a leak and then I bought a CJ conversion radiator. It cools fine until you pull a trailer in above 90 degree weather but mine has not overheated yet. Only prob. is you will spend 50 bucks in radiator hoses to get it plumbed.
That was the engine / trans combo I was going to install but I got a helluva deal on the cummins so that is what I went with. That sounds like a good combo. This truck is a daily driver that gets around 15 mpg.
I was wondering how fast that truck with the 3.9 and stock 4 speed goes? My truck is set up pretty similar and in 4th gear with a higher gear iI dont think I can go 60 mph.
I bought some tires and wheels off an M101 trailer years ago and some other parts . I pass by there going to the lakes and stop by but I don't think he is doing much collecting anymore. His prices were a little steep years ago too. A really neat guy to talk to though.
I have heard of people driving down the road and snap an axle. Personally, I owned an M37 for 12 or so years and I was hard on it to say the least. I was trying to climb a rock slab and had the tires bouncing off the rock a foot high to the floor. NO PROBLEMS!
When I installed my 6bt my exhaust was too tight. All you have to do is die grind the weld off the sleeve on the exhaust cut about an inch out of it and reweld. Problem solved and is really easy.
