I'm going to wire in some 24volt service lights off of a wrecker to my Deuce, and I ordered the female 12 guage rubber connectors from Saturn Surplus. They arrived today and have the connectors, the rubber boot, and a little brass washer. Anybody know where the washer is supposed to go? Looks...
I agree with stumps on principle, and would follow that advice first. But the part about the truck not going down a slight downhill incline makes me wonder if you may have a binding effect in the drivetrain. Search this site for 'windup' if the spare tire removal does not resolve the issue...
I'm looking at the M106A1 trailers, and thanks, Nonotagain for the weight info. I have a 753B Bobcat with a bigger diesel I put in it and it weighs about 6,000 lbs.
That's kind of what I was wondering. I might haul my bobcat (a small one) once in a while. Didn't mean for my first post to be misleading. I guess I'm wondering what one of these trailers weighs empty?
Anyone have thumbs up, or thumbs down on the 5 ton 20 foot pintle hook trailers for a Deuce? Am thinking about buying one just for hauling whatever behind my Deuce, like welder, ATV 4 wheeler, etc. ??
I've welded professionally and now as a hobby since 1971; why anyone would weld on a mounted tire is beyond me. On a second note, these ring mount tires deserve our respect. I'm with the idea of filling them up with a clamp chuck and even after that I treat them gingerly until they have rolled...
I'm originally from Big D, but have been gone for 5+ years now. I really don't know where to send you. I kind of doubt you'll get a good deal on some shop just 'going over it' for you in Dallas. This site is a wealth of information and I urge you to utilize it. There are numerous posts about...
Short, quick answer: try jacking up one of the front tires, and PLEASE, stand back from it; this may let it unwind. Sounds like you have a sprag transfer case and a possible wind up situation (hopefully). Do searches on this site about this subject.
I'm in the midst of the same thing; I intend to use my deuce for all manner of things and titled it as a "Texas Truck" plate just yesterday. Cost a little bit but I can now do whatever I want with it. Am fabricating an illuminated license plate holder for the rear, and with what I have so far...
Lucas is great stuff. The tackiness of it has saved more than one gearbox during my adventures. I am currently running 2 quarts in my hardtop crankcase and you can actually see the difference in consistency when checking the oil. After reading this post, I'll probably run it in the gearboxes...
I bypassed my FDC thinking that was the problem. It was not. My injector pump leaked like a sieve, and about $2,500.00 later, voila! No more problems. The 2.5 large was spent rebuilding the injector pump.
I've read as much as I can on the sprag versus airshift transfer cases, but my question is can you have a manual lever shift transfer case that does not have the "wind-up" issue. Reason I ask is that mine is a 1971 M35A2 hardtop, and I crawled underneath it today and do not see the 'linkage'...
Yes sir. And I know you have them in Alabama. But they are wreaking havoc in Texas. Fewer hunters, etc....It has reached a stage whereby I have actually overheard ranchers and farmers state that it is irresponsible NOT to shoot them.
