Well, after months of inactivity due to school, progress was made on the Deuce last night! I got both the windshield frames apart in preparation for new glass (more on that coming soon), and started getting some paint on! My dad had done a little painting before this, but it sure was nice to...
After an all-too-long hiatus, I am back in the Deuce forum! Now that I'm home and can actually work on the truck again, I'm sure I'll be here more often with questions and pictures, etc. And my first submission is to post my first major observation upon returning to the deuce:
We have mice...
Hey guys,
Just stealing an idea from the Jeep group I'm with, every year they have a big rally at Tellico, and someone mixes up a batch of homebrew for the event. They're even talking of a brew-off this year. Well I doubt we'd have enough people for that, I'm thinking maybe someone headed out...
Having much experience with coordinating scheduals over here at school (more group projects and meetings than I care to think about it) I thought I'd try and do something useful for a change.
Anywho, if everyone who is seriously planning on coming out to Haspin can post here with dates that do...
Hey all,
I just thought I'd suggest an idea from another forum I'm on over at earlycj5.com. They have a section called "Buyer Comments" so that when people buy items from other members or companies, they can post comments on their experiences. Gives other people a chance to check out how...
Hey all,
I see this folder isn't too active, so I hope someone sees this. I'm in the process of purchasing a 1967 CJ5 for a restoration project. It's in good running order with a good frame, and I'm getting it for a pretty good price, but the body is pretty well shot. Some parts are salvagable...
So, I'm just curious what anyone out there is using as their daily driver? What sort of vehicle preference does the MV community have? <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_big.gif" alt="Big Smile">
I've got a 1991 Eddie Bauer Ford Exploder, "It's Official."

Just curious, what are anyone's oppinions on spraying versus brushing for painting a deuce? I'm almost thinking that spraying might be easier, but given the time period ('71), I know that brushing would be more accurate, and might not be that hard. Any suggestions, experiences, etc?
Right now...
Well, today was just as gorgeous and just as productive as I hoped it would be! I made MUCHO progress on the restoration job. I got quite a bit of the front of the truck sanded, primered and ready to paint! Still lots o' work, but it sure feels good to be able to take some steps forward every...
Ok, so this isn't directly MV related, but I have a question about an antenna.
My dad recently purchased an army surplus antenna setup from a garage sale. It was very complete and is in very good shape, including it's own carrying bag. It has a number of aluminum tubes, each about 1.5"D and...
Hola all,
Yesterday I undertook a little project, replacing the engine stop cable on the deuce. Always the cheapskate, I figured out a way to replace the cable itself, without having to buy a whole new handle/assembly. Anyone out there interested in a writeup?
It seems to me the SS site could...
Just out of curiosity: I've noticed the windshield wiper air hose on my deuce isn't long enough to stay connected when the windshield is folded all the way down. The hose I'm referring to is the first visible one, in the lower left corner of the windshield. I'm just wondering if this is...
I just noticed, the SS forum now has 304 members! Yippee!<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_jumpin.gif" alt="Jumpin"><img src="emoticons/icon_smile_thumzup.gif" alt="Thumb Up">
Just reading through the -10, and I'm seeing some references to the M36A2 extended wheelbase Deuce. Just curious if anyone out there has one, or knows of someone who does. How rare are they?
Hey all,
I'm pretty sure my Deuce is NOT painted with CARC, but given its nasty reputation, I'm wondering how to check for certain before I start sanding for the next paintjob. I recall reading somewhere that it should be written/stenciled somewhere on the truck, but I forget where that is...
Anyone have approximate dimensions of bridgeplates for an M35A2? I'd like to have one on mine, figured they look simple enough to make up, just need to know the size.
