Did my first fill-up just now and it was $96, but the nearest station is also one of the more expensive around. Treated it with the algae remover as well- looks clear but why not.
Changed the gear oil in both diffs - about 2 quarts in the front and almost 3 for the rear.
It's not a tribute, just trying to keep it as original as reasonably possible. If I put USMC 621542 on it then I'd have to deal with this:
Person: "Wow, cool hummer. Were you in the marine corpse?"
Me: "Uh, no. It's not a ... I did 20 in the Air Force."
Person: "Oh. Why did you put USMC on...
My guess for why tire shops won't do them is it comes down to throughput.
They typically charge by the wheel, not the hour.
Tire mount & balance (including lifting the vehicle, remove the lugnuts, remove the old tire, install the new tire, balance, remount) takes one Tech 20 minutes and the...
There are two versions of the Solargizers. The big lot of them on the auction (if I remember right) were the small ones - these DO NOT charge the batteries, they desulfate them only. The ones with the bigger solar panels will trickle-charge the batteries. So whether you bid on them to win the...
I had to jump my M1009 back in June. I'd bought two of these when they were on sale, combining a coupon code to get them at a reasonable price.
My worry was when we drive up into the National Forest to roof-top tent camp, and in the morning the battery or batteries are dead- who can you...
The attachment thingys (whatever they're called) that needed replacement were a problem for my rivet gun- it just wasn't going to fit. Bought a harbor freight one for $6 and modified it with the grinding wheel.
The Blue Ox top arrived today and it's fantastic.
Seeing the truck in the driveway covered by a tarp or just topless made it feel like there was no hope, but the top arrived today and I got word the Montana title should be here Friday.
As arrived:
Touched up the paint with Rapco...
Same here. Every so often I'll read up on it and start to understand, then a week later it's gone again like I never knew it. Like algebra... :shrugs:
EDIT to add: I think -18 sticks out more than +6
Yikes!
I once owned a Triumph TR4A that would run ok, then die. Restart and run ok, then die. While it was dead I checked the two necessities: fuel and ignition, and both were present. So why didn't it run? I'd forgotten the other necessity - AIR! Turns out the exhaust manifold had a leak...
When it dies again:
put the ignition switch in run
pop the hood
remove the pink wire off the IP
touch it back and listen for the solenoid inside - do this several times
if it sounds weak or you hear nothing, it might the solenoid went bad - easy fix
Today was glow plug day. EDIT to add: 6.5 Turbo
I started on the right side aft plug. I used the medium pry bar to bend the heat shield out of the way some. That one took a while. Open end wrench 1/16th of a rotation each time.
I did the next forward one and it took about as long, again...
I just ran into this last weekend when I was going through my hubs. I removed the one bolt holding the inboard end of the radius rod and popped it down with a mallet. Seems like a lot less work than pulling the half-shaft.
Maybe I don't understand the problem right?
Looks like the previous...
