Hi guys I’m looking at ways to quiet down my mep005s as much as possible. I use them 24/7 to power my island hotel. Noise at night is a huge problem.
I just built a 8ft block sound wall to deflect some of the noise and am
Almost finished a block generator building in which all 4 of my 005s...
Hey thanks for the tip on the voltage regulator. The one I found was for the 400hz 005. Still looking for a spare. If I can’t find one I have a friend going to the states in Jan that can take my exciter box to the states to get repaired
What does UOC stand for. Thanks so much for all your help!
In the parts Tm number 76 is nsn 6110-00-363-3973 or 3974. How do I tell which is the 50/60 hz version. By the usable on code? Where is the key as to which code is which version of the generator? Thanks so much for pointing that out!!!!
Is there a separate Tm book for parallel operation or a...
Hi guyfang, I just bought another non running 005 and the seller is removing and shipping me all the electrical boxes, transformers, front panel gauges and switches, wiring harnesses, Injection pump, alt, starter, muffler for spares.
I also want to repair my exciter box so I have a spare one of...
I can’t get the link to open. I’d like to read it! I’ve had these 002s for 5 years with one running 24/7 and now have two running 24/7. Swapping over to my four new to me 005s. One of them should take care of my electrical needs for a while. I plan to sell my 002s. Just want to repair the one...
We after closer examination found that the CR 16 & 17 are damaged. The outer body is cracked an missing almost half of the outer painted area. Do you think that might be the problem? Are they part of the exciter circuitry?
What additional testing equipment would I need to test all aspects of the...
Hi guy. My error. I thought the status exciter and voltage regulator assm box was the s/p box. The exciter box is the box we installed in another generator that was working properly. When we installed it that unit would not make electricity. We we reinstalled the units exciter box it made...
Here is what we did, we put the s/p exciter box into another genset and now it won’t make power-nor excite the generator. We swapped them back and it is making electricity. So the problem is definitely in the s/p relay box. Any idea what in the Box might be the culprit? Thanks so much for your...
We put 24 volts to the exciter circuit today and the generator made 220volts. So the generator is good we aren’t getting 24 volts to the exciter where the two exciter wires go into the two wire bulkhead connector just above the generator head we have the box out and have inspected it...
The only reason I have to change the control box side of the cable is because the backlite separator inside the female half of the connector is fried. It looks like a fun job. I had to gut my old ac box just to remove the female plug and cable !
The ac box looks perfect. The cables inside the box look perfect also. The ac box is a fresh rebuilt from the military, I bought two of them.
I will take some pics in the am. It looks isolated to the plug and the first six or seven inches of the control box side of the cable.
Hi guyfang, I read the Tm. The current transformer number 40 with the single hole in it only comes into play during parallel operation evidently. I repaired the three mouse chewed cables in the unit I took the transformer out of to put in the unit not making power.
Still not making power.
My...
On start up. I checked the bolt grounding the battery to chassis ground and it’s good and tight. Don’t see any damage other than the cable! This thing is 38 years old. So maybe the plug founded itself and fried the cable.
Wow this is really weird. The other mep 005 that came with my rowpu only has a few hours on it since the engine was rebuilt and the rowpu was serviced. The genset makes stable power and all the gauges seems to work but not sure on percentage of load guage as I haven’t run a load on it.
I think...
Sorry tool so long to reply.
Yes. It’s number 40 on page number 84
The number I posted is the number in the outside of the transformer itself
I just got my parts Manual and see the NSN part number system
Guyfang. I dont have much skill in electrical diagnostics and do not know how to read...
I live on an island and they have been running 24/7 most of the time. A couple months back I had a problem with the 1 phase 3 phase switch so I bought a pair of government rebuilt switch boxes. I installed one on this unit and it was running fine. No on rodent damage. I have 3 mep 002s. And two...
