I get about 15mpg with my M1009 with stock tires according to the odometer, but mine if off too. When going 65 off the speedo, my gps says 62mph.
How hard are you pumping your tires up to? I run 40psi in mine.

I use to haul hay all the way to KY with my farm plate, but once you go past that 150 mile point you have to do the log book and all the other stuff, and if you go out of state you need to get the IFTA stickers, and in KY you need to be bonded and have a KYU # along with the DOT #.
I pulled my farm plate off my one ton and put a regular plate on to get around it. I've talked to DOT officers about it, and anything under 26001lbs is in a gray area of that law, it can be interpenetrated either way. The DOT is only focused on one tons, if you put a farm plate on a mini van...
I called progressive too, and told me no MV's. So I called Geigo after seeing another guy on this thread say he had it through them, and they wouldn't do it unless I went through the commercial division. It's just a matter of who you get and if they had discretion or not.
