I swear, if it isn't one thing, its another.
I had an alternator that was only putting out 22.9 volts, tried to adjust the regulator, no joy.
Swapped regulators, no joy.
Brand new alternator, 28.2 volts...yay! But then..
Drive em around for about an hour today. While headed back to the...
Hey guys, just an update.
We've got an old fella around here with a big truck bone yard. No MVs but he's got enough exhaust stacks, intake elbows, and flex pipe that I could turn this joker into a submarine. Lol
I really appreciate all the input, and once we get them all painted up ill share...
I just measured ours. On a 923a1...fuel tank size from outside to frame rail about 24 inches. Add about 2-3 inches for the bracket at the frame rail. The height of the tank is about 17 inches, and the length (bow to stern) is about 43 inches. Hope that helps
I'm working on that. The problem is that it won't be exactly normal plumbing as the new cab is different than stock. It will take a bit of engineering.
Allie, it's not hard to do. There are 4 9/16s bolts holding the unit to the bracket. Or you can loosen the band and remove the small bolt on the bottom of the bracket. Unhook all the lines, and unplug the heater.
Once it's out, you can remove the dust cover from the heater (on the bottom)...
Yep, definitely as Porkysplace says...that joker needs some service. A good cleaning out, change dessicant, and that valve at the bottom leaking is the purge valve. It gets gummed up because it's made to blow junk out (water, dirt, and such). Just did two of them last week.
Thanks Russ, I didn't even think about PVC. That might just work. I think we can plumb that in and keep it plenty water tight...that's why I like this site...genius.
Hey everybody,
I'm still super new here (been lurking for a while) and you all are a wonderful community, I appreciate the wealth of information.
I've got a bit of a situation though.
I am a Deputy Sheriff in Southeastern NC (I know, I know...we aren't all terrible. lol). And our Sheriff is...
Thanks for the input. I'm not crazy about totally eliminating it (I've choked out many a run away diesels, lol) This bugger just started leaking last night and I wanted to keep it operational for a couple of days until a new valve could be had. I appreciate the help.
Hey everybody, I was just looking for a bit of guidance. We've got 2 m923a1 both are in pretty good shape.
The only problem I have with one is that the trucking company that owned it prior built some sort of goofy looking "sleeper cab". It looks like the gorillas that built the box pinched and...
